About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Sales Manager to join our team on a 12-month contract and lead business development and sales activities across various energy sectors in India.
The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic customer relationships, managing the sales pipeline, and driving revenue growth across key accounts. This role requires a strong understanding of the local energy market, including power generation and transmission, electricity distribution, renewable energy, oil & gas exploration and production, refining, petrochemicals, pipelines, LNG, and associated infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of selling industrial technology, engineering solutions, equipment, services, digital solutions, automation, or other B2B offerings to major utilities, oil & gas companies, EPC contractors, and infrastructure organizations.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Develop and execute a focused sales strategy for the Utilities and Oil & Gas markets across India.
- Identify, qualify, and convert new business opportunities to achieve agreed revenue and margin targets.
- Build and maintain a healthy sales pipeline covering short-, medium-, and long-term opportunities.
- Develop relationships with key decision-makers, influencers, technical stakeholders, procurement teams, and senior management.
- Generate new leads through direct engagement, industry networks, strategic partnerships, conferences, and market intelligence.
- Lead the complete sales cycle from opportunity identification and qualification through proposal, negotiation, contract award, and handover.
- Prepare and deliver compelling commercial and technical presentations, proposals, and value propositions.
- Negotiate commercial terms and support contract closure in line with company policies.
Key Account Management
- Establish trusted, long-term relationships with strategic customers and accounts.
- Develop and maintain stakeholder maps and account plans for priority customers.
- Conduct regular customer meetings and business reviews.
- Understand customer challenges and translate them into commercially viable solutions.
- Identify cross-selling and up-selling opportunities within existing accounts.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and support the resolution of commercial issues.
Internal Collaboration & Reporting
- Work closely with regional/global sales, presales, engineering, product, delivery, finance, and marketing teams.
- Provide accurate sales forecasts and regular pipeline updates to senior management.
- Maintain CRM records, opportunity information, customer data, and sales activities.
- Report on market developments, competitive intelligence, customer feedback, and sales performance.
- Contribute to strategic planning and market-entry initiatives where required.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or a related discipline; an MBA or equivalent commercial qualification is desirable.
- 5-8 years of B2B sales/business development experience, preferably within the Utilities, Power, Oil & Gas, Energy, Industrial, Engineering, Automation, or Infrastructure sectors.
- Demonstrated success selling complex technical or engineered solutions to enterprise customers.
- Strong knowledge of the local energy market.
- Proven experience managing long sales cycles and complex, multi-stakeholder opportunities.
- Experience with tenders, RFPs, RFQs, contract negotiations, and project-based sales.
- Strong commercial, negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
- Experience using CRM systems and maintaining accurate sales forecasts.
- Willingness to travel extensively within India.

Compensation: Competitive fixed compensation plus performance-based incentives
