Summary
- The Alternative Provision Placement Officer is a pivotal role within Council, responsible for the effective delivery and management of the Alternative Provision (AP) Framework. This position serves as the central hub for sourcing, coordinating, monitoring, and ensuring the quality of Alternative Provision placements. The officer's primary goal is to guarantee that children and young people have access to safe, high-quality educational opportunities that meet their needs.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the main contact for sourcing and coordinating Alternative Provision placements via the Surrey Alternative Provision Framework.
- Handle placement requests and facilitate appropriate referrals to commissioned providers.
- Assist in procurement, commissioning, and tendering activities for providers aiming to join the Alternative Provision Framework.
- Maintain and enhance the directory of approved and off-contract Alternative Provision providers.
- Support the onboarding process for new providers, ensuring they meet commissioning and safeguarding standards.
- Collaborate with schools, SEND teams, education services, and commissioned providers to identify suitable educational provisions for children and young people.
Requirements:
- Experience:
- Background in education, commissioning, SEND, alternative provision, children's services, or a related field.
- Proven experience in coordinating placements, referrals, admissions, or service provision for children and young people.

- Qualifications:
- Educated to A-Level standard or possess an equivalent professional qualification and experience.
- Relevant qualification or equivalent experience in areas such as Education, Children's Services, or SEND.

Additional Information
- Contract Duration: 2-3 months with a local authority
- Rate: £19.64 per hour Umbrella
- Working Hours: 35 hours per week
- Interview: Onsite 45-minute panel interview at Lewisham Civic Centre or Laurence House on 22nd September
- Payment Schedule: Bi-weekly
