Freelance Art Director – Hybrid JHB – 2-Week Contract – R30,000 Project Fee

We are looking for an experienced freelance Art Director for a two-week project starting on 1 October 2026.

This is a Johannesburg-based hybrid role operating on a 4:1 model: four days on-site and one day remote per week.

The Art Director will be responsible for developing and executing strong creative concepts while ensuring that all work meets the required brand and production standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute creative concepts in response to the brief.
  
• Provide art direction across the required campaign deliverables.
  
• Translate strategic ideas into strong visual solutions.
  
• Produce layouts and guide the development of final creative assets.
  
• Maintain brand consistency across all outputs.
  
• Collaborate with copywriters, designers and other project stakeholders.
  
• Manage feedback and revisions within the project timeline.
  
• Prepare or oversee artwork through to final delivery.
  

Requirements

• Proven professional experience as an Art Director.
  
• Strong conceptual, design and layout skills.
  
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud.
  
• Ability to work independently and deliver under tight deadlines.
  
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
  
• A portfolio demonstrating relevant art direction and campaign work.
  
• Must be based in Johannesburg and available for the hybrid 4:1 model.
  
• Must be available for the full two-week contract.
  
• Must have own laptop with licenced software
