Technical Lead – Backend Systems

Looking for an experienced Technical Lead – Backend Systems who can take ownership of backend architecture while remaining deeply hands-on with engineering.

What You'll Do

• Design and evolve scalable, resilient backend systems
• Develop high-performance services using Python & FastAPI
• Define service boundaries, data ownership, and communication patterns
• Work with Microservices, Modular Monoliths & Event-Driven Architectures
• Design and optimize PostgreSQL/MySQL and NoSQL data stores
• Build RESTful APIs and asynchronous services
• Work with Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS or similar messaging systems
• Design systems capable of handling failures, retries, timeouts and high traffic
• Drive technical decisions around performance, cost, scalability and maintainability
• Work with AWS/Azure/GCP, Docker, CI/CD and Kubernetes
• Lead architecture discussions, code reviews and technical design sessions
• Mentor engineers and establish backend engineering best practices? What We're Looking For

✅ 10+ years of backend/software engineering experience

✅ 3+ years of production experience with FastAPI

✅ Expert-level Python knowledge

✅ Strong experience with PostgreSQL/MySQL

✅ Experience with at least one NoSQL datastore

✅ Strong understanding of SOLID, GoF Design Patterns & DDD

✅ Deep knowledge of distributed systems

✅ Experience designing and evolving large-scale systems

✅ Experience with cloud platforms and deployments

✅ Knowledge of OAuth2, JWT, API Gateways & Rate Limiting

✅ Experience with microservices and/or event-driven architectures

✅ Previous experience as a Senior Backend Developer, Tech Lead or Solution Architect

Requirements
