Responsibilities
- To work as a member of a team of nurses in the Hospital theatre department providing high-quality, patientcare care for patients and their families.
- To develop and maintain good relationships with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and to work closely with nursing colleagues to develop innovative practices within the unit delivering evidence-based care.
- The theatre nurse will be expected to assist in a wide range of specialties (e.g. PACU).
- To develop specialist knowledge of nursing practice relating to his or her clinical area.
- Develop and maintain effective communication and interpersonal relationships with all members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure good team spirit and collaborative working practices.
- Support the theatre manager by meeting agreed responsibilities as set out by the theatre manager or the chief nursing officer at any time.
- Identify and discuss nursing and patient needs with consultants and the nursing team, multidisciplinary team, patients, and carers.
Requirements
- Current registration on the General Division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland register with a valid NMBI PIN.
- A minimum of 1 year of post-registration nursing experience in an acute hospital setting.
- Previous Theatre Anaesthetic nursing experience gained in Ireland or the UK.
- Demonstrated clinical competence and professional nursing practice.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong command of the English language, both written and verbal.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts and adapt to changing service needs.
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Completion of an Advanced Life Support (ALS) course/certification
