NPI Engineer

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced NPI Engineer to own and drive the end-to-end New Product Introduction (NPI) process, from project kick-off through successful transition to series production. The role will involve close coordination with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and other cross-functional teams to ensure smooth product industrialization and production ramp-up.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end NPI process from project kick-off through series production.
  
• Prepare, maintain, and release NPI build plans, project timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
  
• Coordinate and execute prototype, pilot, pre-production, and ramp-up builds.
  
• Drive readiness of materials, tooling, equipment, programs, fixtures, test setups, and manufacturing documentation before each build.
  
• Coordinate cross-functional activities to ensure timely closure of NPI action items and build issues.
  
• Review and interpret product drawings, electrical schematics, BOMs, specifications, and engineering changes.
  
• Support the transition of products from development to mass production, ensuring stable and repeatable manufacturing processes.
  
• Work with manufacturing teams on SMT, PCBA, mechanical assembly, testing, and packaging processes.
  
• Identify manufacturing and process risks and drive corrective and preventive actions during NPI builds.
  
• Prepare and review Process Flow, PFMEA, Control Plans, FAI, PPAP, and APQP documentation.
  
• Ensure process, material, tooling, and documentation readiness for production release.
  
• Monitor build performance, identify gaps, and drive improvements in quality, yield, cycle time, and manufacturability.
  
• Support production ramp-up and ensure a smooth handover to the sustaining/production engineering team.
  

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering / Electrical & Electronics Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  
• 4–8 years of relevant experience in NPI, Manufacturing Engineering, Product Industrialization, or related roles.
  
• Hands-on experience with prototype, pilot, pre-production, and ramp-up builds.
  
• Proven experience in transitioning products from development to mass production.
  
• Strong understanding of product drawings, electrical schematics, BOMs, specifications, and engineering changes.
  
• Good knowledge of manufacturing processes including:
  • SMT and PCBA
    
  • Mechanical assembly
    
  • Functional and electrical testing
    
  • Packaging and final assembly
    
• Strong knowledge of PFMEA, Control Plan, Process Flow, FAI, PPAP, and APQP.
  
• Strong project coordination and cross-functional communication skills.
  
• Ability to identify manufacturing risks, resolve build issues, and drive projects to successful production launch.
  

Preferred Skills

• Experience working with EMS/ODM or electronics manufacturing environments.
  
• Knowledge of DFM/DFA, process validation, yield improvement, and production ramp-up.
  
• Familiarity with engineering change management and production documentation.
  
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills.
