Head of Engineering

We are looking for a Head of Engineering to build an engineering organisation that delivers complex financial products reliably, predictably and at scale. Working closely with the CIO and engineering leaders, you will strengthen delivery, risk and incident management while balancing regulatory requirements, reliability and speed.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop engineering teams and engineering leaders, creating clear accountability and strong management practices.
• Strengthen engineering delivery so that commitments, dependencies and risks become more visible and predictable.
• Establish scalable engineering practices across planning, execution, production readiness and incident management.
• Build strong operational and reliability disciplines for business-critical financial systems.
• Partner with Product, Risk, Compliance and other business functions to translate business and regulatory requirements into engineering priorities.
• Help the organisation make pragmatic decisions about architecture, technical debt, engineering capacity and investment.
• Develop the engineering organisation as it grows, ensuring that structures and processes remain effective at a larger scale.
• Explore where AI and modern engineering tooling can meaningfully improve developer productivity and engineering effectiveness.

Requirements

• Significant engineering leadership experience, including leading multiple teams and engineering managers.
• Mandatory experience working in a fintech environment, ideally within payments, banking, e-money, digital assets, crypto or other regulated financial technology.
• Experience scaling an engineering organisation through periods of growth or transformation.
• Strong understanding of modern software delivery, distributed systems, cloud environments, production operations and incident management, including the opportunities and risks introduced by AI-assisted development.
• Experience with engineering effectiveness frameworks and metrics such as DORA metrics, SPACE or flow metrics.
• Understanding of regulated technology environments, operational resilience, governance and audit requirements.
• Strong spoken English and the ability to communicate clearly and confidently with international teams and senior stakeholders.
