Merchandiser – Job Description

A Merchandiser is responsible for ensuring that products are displayed, stocked, and presented effectively to maximize sales and meet customer demand. The role involves monitoring inventory, coordinating with sales and purchasing teams, analyzing product performance, and maintaining attractive product displays.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan and maintain effective product displays and merchandising standards.- Monitor stock levels and ensure products are available at the right place and time.- Analyze sales trends, customer preferences, and product performance.- Coordinate with suppliers, buyers, sales teams, and store staff.- Assist with product selection, pricing, promotions, and seasonal campaigns.- Ensure correct product placement, labeling, and pricing.- Identify slow-moving and fast-selling products and recommend appropriate actions.- Conduct regular store or outlet visits to check product availability and presentation.- Prepare sales, inventory, and merchandising reports.- Monitor competitors’ products, pricing, promotions, and market trends.- Support new product launches and promotional activities.- Help minimize stock shortages, excess inventory, and product wastage.

Skills and Qualifications

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.- Good analytical and numerical abilities.- Knowledge of inventory management and sales analysis.- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.- Ability to work independently and coordinate with different teams.- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant retail or inventory systems.- Previous experience in merchandising, retail, sales, or a related field is preferred.- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Retail Management, Fashion Merchandising, or a related field may be preferred.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Performance may be measured through sales growth, stock availability, inventory turnover, display compliance, sell-through rates, reduction of slow-moving stock, and successful execution of promotions.
