Financial Controller

Sydney | Full time | Contract

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Financial Controller to join a growing medical distribution business on an initial 6-month full-time contract, with the potential for a longer-term opportunity.

This is a hands-on role suited to a senior finance professional who can take ownership, improve financial processes, strengthen controls and bring structure to a complex, multi-entity environment.

Responsibilities

• Review, audit and optimise existing financial processes and day-to-day finance operations.
  
• Manage financial operations across multiple entities, including inter-entity transactions and agreements.
  
• Establish, structure and streamline the accounts function for greater efficiency.
  
• Maintain accurate oversight of stock, inventory and related financial processes.
  
• Manage consignment and distribution billing and reporting.
  
• Prepare clear and accurate management reports to support business decision-making.
  
• Oversee general ledger journals, month-end processes and financial adjustments.
  
• Manage international Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable, including multi-currency transactions.
  
• Strengthen financial controls, systems and processes across the business.
  
• Work closely with senior decision makers to improve financial performance and operational efficiency.
  
  

Requirements

• 8+ years of relevant finance experience, with senior-level experience as a Financial Controller, CFO or similar.
  
• Strong financial leadership and hands-on accounting experience.
  
• Experience within storage, logistics, distribution, inventory or supply chain environments.
  
• Proven experience managing multi-entity financial structures.
  
• Experience with international finance operations, including multi-currency reconciliations and international AR/AP.
  
• Strong understanding of financial reporting, controls and process improvement.
  
• Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  
• Ability to work autonomously and make an immediate impact in a fast-paced environment.
  
• Experience with Xero, Shopify, CartonCloud, Stripe, Excel/Google Sheets and Monday.com  or similar is highly desirable.
  
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders.
