2 Month Contract With A local Authority


Job Purpose

To support the delivery of business intelligence, reporting and data transformation initiatives across the Council, playing a key role in the migration of data from the existing Data Warehouse environment into a new Data Lake platform.

The postholder will be responsible for data extraction, cleansing, validation, analysis and reporting, ensuring the integrity, quality and accuracy of information throughout the migration process. Working closely with Digital Services, HR Services and wider stakeholders, the role will develop meaningful business intelligence solutions that support evidence-based decision making and organisational performance.

The BI & Insight Analyst will combine strong technical expertise with excellent stakeholder engagement skills to deliver high-quality reporting, dashboards and data insights across a range of service areas.



Key Responsibilities

  • Support the migration of data from existing data warehouse environments into a new Data Lake platform.
  • Extract, validate, cleanse and analyse data from multiple sources.
  • Ensure data quality, consistency and integrity throughout the migration process.
  • Develop, maintain and enhance Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions.
  • Produce performance reports, management information and analytical insights.
  • Create visualisations that enable stakeholders to understand complex datasets and trends.
  • Work with stakeholders to gather and document reporting and business intelligence requirements.
  • Translate business requirements into meaningful data models, reports and dashboards.
  • Analyse large and complex datasets to identify trends, risks, opportunities and performance issues.
  • Support the development of business intelligence and data-driven decision-making across the organisation.
  • Contribute to improving data quality standards, governance and reporting processes.
  • Support ETL and data integration processes where required.
  • Assist with testing, validation and reconciliation activities associated with data migration projects.
  • Work collaboratively with HR, Digital Services and operational teams to ensure reporting requirements are met.
  • Provide technical guidance and support relating to reporting and business intelligence solutions.
  • Prepare reports, briefings and analytical summaries for stakeholders and management.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within data, reporting and business intelligence functions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation relating to reports, datasets, processes and procedures.


Requirements

Essential

  • Previous experience in a BI Analyst, Data Analyst, Insight Analyst, Reporting Analyst or similar role.
  • Strong Power BI dashboard development and reporting experience.
  • Strong SQL skills.
  • Experience analysing, validating and cleansing data.
  • Experience working with large and complex datasets.
  • Strong understanding of data quality management principles.
  • Experience producing management information and performance reporting.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret data and communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience gathering reporting and business intelligence requirements.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines.

Desirable

  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric.
  • Experience working within Data Lake environments.
  • Experience working with Data Warehouse platforms.
  • Knowledge of ETL processes and data integration methodologies.
  • Experience supporting data migration projects.
  • Experience working with HR data and workforce reporting.
  • Local Government or wider Public Sector experience.
  • Knowledge of business intelligence best practice and data governance principles.

  • Location: Coventry (Hybrid Working)
  • Hours Per Week: 37 Hours
  • Payment Frequency: Bi-Weekly Payments
  • DBS Requirement: Basic DBS Required
  • Interview Process: Two-Stage Process (Online Assessment & Teams Interview)
