Position Overview

Surgical Affiliates Management Group, Inc. (SAMGI) is seeking Trauma & Acute Care Surgeons to join the surgical team at Northwest Texas Healthcare System in Amarillo, TX.

This position offers the opportunity to practice within a 495-bed Level II Trauma Center with established volume, defined coverage expectations, and a collaborative care model supported by experienced APPs.

  • Residency program launching July 2026 (Texas Tech partnership)
  • Clinic space available in on-campus MOB

Schedule Structure

  • 24-Hour shifts
  • 151 shifts per year (12–13 shifts/month)
  • Additional backup-only shifts available

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $544,000 annually
  • Backup-Only Shifts: $500/night (additional earning opportunity)
  • Trauma Medical Director Admin Stipend: $80,000

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide operative and non-operative Trauma and ACS services
  • ICU care for our most critically injured and ill patients
  • Lead trauma activations and manage emergency surgical cases
  • Participate in ACS service and inpatient consults
  • Collaborate with APPs and multidisciplinary teams
  • Participate in quality initiatives and maintain timely documentation

Qualifications

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery
  • Trauma / Surgical Critical Care fellowship preferred
  • Eligible for Texas medical licensure
  • Experience in trauma or high-acuity surgical environments preferred
