Our partner company, a global financial services firm, is hiring for two Java-focused roles within its Risk Technology organization — one for developers looking to grow into a high-impact, regulatory-critical space, and one for a senior engineer ready to lead a strategic platform modernization from the front.

Role 2 — Senior Java Software Engineer (Director level), Market Risk Platform

This is a hands-on senior role at the center of a strategic initiative to modernize the firm's Market Risk platform, while also owning BAU work and production support. You'd be part of the job family responsible for a function and its complex project work — a role that mixes architecture, mentoring, and staying genuinely close to the code.

What you'll do

• Contribute to the function through complex project tasks and strategic initiatives
  
• Interact regularly with team members across regions, and occasionally with leadership
  
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, providing technical guidance and direction
  
• Architect solutions that meet performance, scalability, and security requirements
  
• Drive technical excellence through code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge sharing
  
• Collaborate with stakeholders to shape the project roadmap and technical strategy
  
• Champion best practices in software engineering and design patterns
  
• Contribute to evaluating and adopting new tools and technologies
  
• Maintain and enhance existing applications for performance and functionality
  
• Stay current on emerging technologies and trends
  

Requirements

What you'll bring

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
  
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Java, Spring, and RDBMS
  
• Strong object-oriented design skills, data structures/algorithms, and design patterns
  
• Excellent analytical ability
  
• Strong experience with relational database logical modeling
  
• Skill in querying large relational databases in an optimized way
  
• A habit of writing unit tests (JUnit) as part of system design
  
• Ability to write scripts in Shell/Python
  
• Strong collaboration and communication skills — this is a global team where clarity matters
  
• Comfort working independently while following solid coding standards
  
• Exposure to using AI agents and automation tools across development, validation, and deployment
