Purchase Engineer - Pune

• Procurement & Sourcing:
  
  • Source and purchase structural steel materials (HR plates, channels, beams, angles, pipes), welding consumables, and hardware as per engineering drawings and BOM (Bill of Materials).
    
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable vendors and subcontractors capable of meeting industry standards and tight project deadlines.
    
• Negotiation & Cost Optimization:
  
  • Negotiate favorable pricing, credit terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers to minimize procurement costs without compromising quality.
    
  • Conduct regular market analysis to track price trends of raw materials.
    
• Order Management & Logistics:
  
  • Issue Purchase Orders (POs) and track them from placement to final delivery at the fabrication plant or project site.
    
  • Coordinate with logistics and transport providers to ensure seamless and safe delivery of heavy materials.
    
• Quality & Inventory Control:
  
  • Inspect incoming materials to verify compliance with technical specifications, quality standards, and test certificates (MTC).
    
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels to prevent production delays while avoiding excess stock holding.
    
• Documentation & Compliance:
  
  • Maintain accurate procurement records, GRN (Goods Receipt Notes), vendor invoices, and reconciliation reports.
    
  • Coordinate with the accounts department for timely vendor payment processing.
    

Requirements

• Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  
• Experience: Minimum 3+ years of hands-in purchase/procurement experience specifically within the structural fabrication, heavy engineering, or manufacturing sector in Pune.
  
• Technical Knowledge:
  
  • Sound understanding of structural steel grades, fabrication raw materials, and engineering drawings.
    
  • Familiarity with local vendor markets and logistics networks in and around Pune.
    
• Skills:
  
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
    
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word) and ERP/inventory management software.
    
  • Excellent communication and vendor relationship management skills.
