This is a Senior Frontend Engineer - React UI Architecture role based in Chicago, IL (Local Only) requires 10+ years of experience and a LinkedIn profile as per resume. We need to prioritize only local Chicago candidates with strong expertise in React and modern UI architecture. The candidate must have 8+ years of experience in UI/UX development with deep skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Redux/Context, async programming, and browser performance optimization. Experience with build tools like Webpack/Grunt/Gulp, testing tools, and module loaders is mandatory. Preferred experience includes cloud platforms like Azure/AWS and CI/CD deployment. The role is for team supporting digital transformation using cloud, distributed ledger, and ML technologies. The engineer will design and implement modern responsive UI solutions, collaborate with backend and design teams, and optimize performance.

Required Skills for the Senior UI Developer:

- 8+ years of experience as a UI/UX Developer or Web Developer
- Complete knowledge of programming languages like CSS, HTML and JavaScript
- Knowledge of website design best practices and UI/UX designs
- Well-versed knowledge in modern JS Framework such as React, Angular, Polymer, Vue
- Experience with state management like Redux, React-Context or similar library
- Good understanding of asynchronous, closure, event-driven programming
- Good understanding of browser rendering behavior and performance
- Familiarity with JavaScript module loaders and testing tools
- Familiarity with front-end build tools, such as Webpack, Grunt and Gulp.js
- Strong analytical skills and excellent multitasking and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a team and under pressure

Preferred Skills:

- Experience working with Cloud platforms such as MS Azure, AWS
Senior UI Developer Overview:

The Senior UI Developer will represent the Digital Asset Innovation development team and play a key role supporting the digital transformation of assets and asset servicing functions leveraging emerging technologies such as cloud technologies, distributed ledgers, machine learning, cognitive algorithms etc., to position Northern Trust to be a key participant in the digital future.
 
- Your primary goal for this job role will be designing, implementing, and supporting modern interactive UI solutions developed in JS frameworks such as ReactJS
- You should be able to coordinate with Backend Developers, HTML coders, and Graphic Designers for a complete web development experience
- You should be knowledgeable about packing & deploying apps via CI/CD pipelines to a cloud platform

Responsibilities:

- Using programming languages like HTML/CSS and JavaScript frameworks such as ReactJs/AngularJS to create responsive web pages
- Creating aesthetically appealing websites along with a friendly user interface design
- Following established code practices when undertaking user interface development
- Working closely with Designers and Backend Developers to ascertain client needs
- Optimizing websites, programs, and applications for better speed and functionality
- Gathering feedback from clients, technical staff and conducting troubleshooting procedures
- Developing functional documentation and guidelines for other team members
- Creating prototypes for testing website functionality
- Conceptualizing website designs and placements
- Using analytical tools to determine website performance including website speed, load time, etc
