Representing a top-tier U.S. commercial furniture dealer handling major brands like Haworth, Steelcase, Kimball, and Teknion, you will support multinational clients globally, translating intricate requirements into highly sophisticated, buildable, and high-performance commercial workplace environments.

As a seasoned professional, you will manage detailed documentation, mentor junior designers, and contribute directly to design operations. Partnering with sales leadership, Account Executives, and external partners, you will produce innovative workspace solutions, space plans, and polished visual presentations that win business and inspire global brands

Key Responsibilities

Technical Design & Execution

  • Space Planning & Standards: Lead detailed space planning efforts, integrating complex systems furniture, architectural plans, site conditions, and strict commercial codes (ADA, LEED, WELL) into accurate designs.
  • Documentation & Installation Packages: Produce and oversee installation drawings and supporting documentation packages, ensuring constructability, clear alignment with project intent, and seamless order entry/as-builts
  • Accuracy & Field Coordination: Conduct field verifications, inventories, and onsite measurements. Identify and resolve discrepancies between plans, specifications, field conditions, and installation requirements.

Strategy & Collaboration

  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner strategically with Account Executives, VP of Sales, clients, architectural & design (A&D) firms, contractors, and technical partners (IT, electrical, etc.) to shape project vision.
  • Client Representation: Represent the design function confidently and professionally in client-facing meetings, presentations, and value-alignment discussions.
  • Project Oversight: Provide proactive, regular updates to Design Managers, Team Leads, and Sales leadership while helping steer project direction, risks, and priorities

Leadership, Quality Control & Innovation

  • Mentorship: Mentor Designer I and Designer II team members through technical guidance, drawing reviews, product knowledge, and process coaching.
  • Quality Control: Own design operations standards and workflow improvements, thoroughly reviewing all project deliverables prior to release.
  • Market Insight: Stay ahead of product innovations, workplace ergonomics, manufacturer resources, and sustainability considerations, sharing insights across the team.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or related field (FIDER or CIDA-accredited programs preferred).
  • Experience: 3–5+ years of progressive commercial furniture or workplace design industry experience, with specific background in furniture dealership projects and complex commercial interiors.
  • Software Expertise: Advanced mastery and proficiency in CET Designer (Configura) and AutoCAD are required, including complex drawing production, specifications, and revisions. Strong working knowledge of ProjectSpec and Microsoft Office.
  • Product Knowledge: Deep understanding of systems furniture, product specifications, ancillary solutions, finish selections, and technical applications.
  • Mindset & Soft Skills: Highly organized, solutions-driven, and detail-oriented. Possesses the independence and judgment to work with significant autonomy in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple complex projects.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive Pay and Benefits.
  • Opportunity to work with cutting-edge design technology.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, supportive team that values work-life balance.
  • Play a key role in design operations—your impact on company growth will be evident.
  • Join a culture that values your contributions and equips you with the tools to succeed.
  • Be part of an innovative team that continuously learns and adapts.
