Traffic Engineer

Leading U.S. engineering consulting firm is seeking a Traffic Engineer for their Chicago office!

Responsibilities:

• Prepare/oversee traffic impact analysis studies, transportation planning studies, traffic signal design and timings, microsimulation and modeling services, roundabout feasibility studies, parking studies, and safety studies for public and private-sector clients
  
• Manage traffic engineering projects (scope development, budgeting, scheduling, coordination, project delivery, and financial performance)
  
• Mentor/train junior staff (provide day-to-day guidance and quality control reviews)
  
• Support proposal preparation, client development, and strategic business development pursuits
  

Requirements:

• B.S. degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in transportation or traffic engineering
  
• 5+ years of relevant traffic engineering experience
  
• Professional Engineer registration
  
• Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) and/or Road Safety Professional (RSP) certification preferred
  
• Project management experience preferred
  
• Demonstrated ability to work on multiple complex assignments and establish priorities
  
• Proficient in Highway Capacity Software (HCS), SYNCHRO / SimTraffic, including the ability to guide staff and review technical work
  
• Experience with VISSIM, IHSDM and AutoCAD preferred
  
• Familiar with traffic engineering guidelines, including: DOT, ITE, FHWA, AASHTO, and MUTCD publications for preparation of traffic studies
  
• Strong written and verbal communication, organization and interpersonal skills
  
• Ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with public and private-sector clients, agency staff, peers, management, and project stakeholders
  
• Experience supporting proposal preparation, client development, and business development efforts is preferred
  

Salary is commensurate with experience.
