Broker Liaison

We are looking for a Retail Leasing professional to build and maintain relationships with the landlord and broker community, and to source new retail space for the group’s trading brands. You will keep the pipeline of opportunities current, support lease renewals, and coordinate agreements through to signature and beneficial occupation. This is a relationship and process role that sits between landlords, brokers, administration, and the projects team.

Key responsibilities

Landlord and broker relationships

• Build and foster relationships with the landlord community across South Africa so that new retail space and developments are available to the group’s brands.
  
• Maintain an active network of brokers and property owners, and stay visible in the market.
  
• Represent the group professionally in property discussions and negotiations.
  

New retail space

• Source and assess new retail opportunities that fit the group’s trading brands.
  
• Review leasing reports and track potential sites from first contact through to decision.
  
• Prepare and present material terms of potential transactions at property meetings.
  

Lease administration and renewals

• Ensure lease agreements are renewed timeously in line with the company mandate.
  
• Attend to signature and counter-signature of lease agreements, offers, and heads of agreement.
  
• Coordinate beneficial occupation with the projects department so that stores open on time.
  
• Provide support to the administration department in the execution of their duties.
  

Market knowledge

• Stay abreast of industry best practice, retail property trends, and development activity.
  
• Feed relevant market intelligence back to the team.
  

Requirements

Grade 12 (essential).
Previous experience in retail leasing (essential).
Good verbal and written communication skills (essential).
Excellent interpersonal relationships.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Accountability, teamwork, integrity, reliability, and adaptability.
Willingness to travel across South Africa as required.
