The Opportunity

Join a highly respected and progressive accounting and advisory firm on the Gold Coast, offering far more than a traditional public practice role.

Working closely with the Directors and leadership team, you'll manage an established portfolio of clients while providing high-quality taxation, compliance and advisory services to a diverse range of businesses.

This opportunity is ideally suited to an experienced Senior Accountant who can confidently manage client relationships, take ownership of work from start to finish, and operate with a high level of autonomy. Whilst technical capability is important, the business is equally focused on finding someone who genuinely enjoys working with people, building relationships, and contributing positively to team culture.

The firm continues to invest heavily in technology, automation and AI-driven tools, allowing the team to spend less time on repetitive compliance work and more time delivering meaningful advice to clients. As these technologies evolve, you'll play an important role supporting and mentoring junior team members while helping clients navigate increasingly complex business decisions.

For the right person, this role offers genuine long-term career growth within a modern and forward-thinking firm that values collaboration, innovation and exceptional client service.

The Role

You will take ownership of an established portfolio of clients, providing accounting, taxation and advisory services while working closely with junior accountants, graduates and offshore support staff.

  • Managing a portfolio of business clients across taxation, compliance, financial reporting and advisory engagements
  • Preparing and reviewing financial statements, income tax returns and BAS for a variety of entity structures
  • Providing proactive taxation, commercial and strategic business advice
  • Acting as the primary relationship manager and trusted advisor for clients
  • Managing engagements from commencement through to completion with minimal review required
  • Working closely with the Directors on complex taxation and advisory matters
  • Reviewing, mentoring and supporting junior accountants and graduates
  • Collaborating with offshore accounting resources to ensure high-quality client outcomes
  • Identifying opportunities to improve systems, workflows and client outcomes
  • Leveraging technology, automation and AI tools to drive efficiencies across the practice
  • Ensuring strong communication and service delivery across all client interactions
  • Working collaboratively across the team to provide cross-cover and maintain exceptional client service standards
  • Contributing to a positive, supportive and high-performing team environment

The Successful Candidate

You’re confident managing clients independently, but equally value collaboration and understand the importance of being part of a team, sharing a laugh, and celebrating the wins. One team, one dream.

  • Relevant Accounting qualifications + CA or CPA
  • 10+ years' experience within Australian public practice accounting
  • Exposure to Self-Managed Super Funds (SMSFs) would be considered advantageous
  • Strong technical expertise across taxation, compliance and financial reporting
  • Experience managing your own client portfolio
  • The ability to complete engagements from start to finish with minimal supervision
  • Confidence providing practical advice and solutions to clients
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Experience mentoring, supporting or reviewing the work of junior team members
  • A solutions-focused mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities
  • Adaptability and openness to emerging technologies, automation and AI
  • Strong commercial awareness and a genuine desire to help clients succeed
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to contribute to the broader success of the firm

Who Will Succeed Here?

The ideal person is somebody who combines strong technical capability with strong people skills.

  • Approachable, friendly and easy to work with
  • Enjoys building long-term relationships with clients
  • Can adapt their communication style to different personalities and business owners
  • Thrives in a collaborative environment
  • Is open to change and continuous improvement
  • Takes pride in delivering exceptional client experiences
  • Wants to be part of a business for the long term

Why Join This Business?

  • Established and highly regarded Gold Coast accounting and advisory firm
  • Diverse client base spanning a range of industries and business sizes
  • Modern, technology-driven practice investing heavily in AI and automation
  • Opportunity to focus on advisory work rather than purely compliance
  • Performance bonus structure linked to individual KPIs and client outcomes
  • Early Friday finish at 2:30pm
  • Free off-street parking
  • Flexible working arrangements available
  • Ongoing professional development, seminars and conferences
  • Membership or further Education support
  • Structured client handover and onboarding process
  • Collaborative leadership team that welcomes new ideas and innovation
  • Strong team culture with regular social events and celebrations
  • Genuine long-term career progression opportunities

Technology & Systems

You'll be supported by leading systems and technology including:

  • Xero Practice Manager
  • Class Super
  • AI-powered reconciliation and workflow tools
  • Automated document and client management systems

The business continues to invest in future-focused technology, ensuring accountants can spend more time advising clients and less time completing repetitive administrative tasks
