About the Role 

The Project Engineer plays a key role in delivering technical projects across Modern Desktop and Infrastructure. With a focus on Modern Workplace migrations and infrastructure upgrades, this is a hands-on role that combines technical delivery, problem-solving and a strategic mindset. 

Reporting to the Head of Modern Desktop & Infrastructure, you will work closely with Project Management, Account Management and service teams to deliver projects on time and within budget. You will also act as a specialist escalation point for complex service desk tickets, helping to maintain smooth, efficient and client-focused service delivery. 

Responsibilities 

• Lead the delivery of technical projects of varying size and complexity, including server and domain configurations, Microsoft 365 migrations and Azure migrations.
• Deliver Modern Workplace migrations and infrastructure upgrades, supporting the wider technical disciplines involved in each project.
• Partner with Project Management to ensure project delivery is efficient, effective, on time and within budget.
• Collaborate with Account Management to provide clients with exceptional service and maintain a client-focused approach.
• Implement IT solutions, isolate problems and resolve issues for end users across a range of infrastructures.
• Align technical solutions with client business requirements, including hardware and software upgrades and the removal of outdated solutions.
• Own complex technical escalations from service teams and act as a specialist escalation point for service desk tickets.
• Ensure client system changes are fully documented, recorded and communicated through the appropriate systems and to the relevant parties.

Requirements 

Essential 

• In-depth technical understanding of Entra, Azure, Microsoft 365, on-premise infrastructure and general business IT systems.
• Experience using ConnectWise Manage or another ITSM tool, such as ServiceNow, Remedy or Autotask.
• A strong passion for IT and a genuine interest in exploring and sharing new technologies and methodologies that can improve business efficiency.
• A security-first mindset and exceptional attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, using conventional or creative approaches as appropriate.
• The ability to work collaboratively and independently, manage time and workload effectively, and prioritise multiple tasks and deadlines.
• The ability to follow established procedures while proactively suggesting and implementing necessary updates.

Desirable 

• Awareness of ITIL frameworks and methodologies.
• Experience in project delivery and working alongside project managers.
• Previous experience working for a Managed Services Provider or Managed Security Services Provider.
