Sr Plumbing Engineer

Design Hire is a seeking a Senior Plumbing Engineer to handle challenging new construction and renovation projects where fire protection, life safety, and multidisciplinary coordination are central to successful outcomes. This role offers the opportunity to provide senior-level technical leadership while contributing to project delivery and the continued growth of the fire protection practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop fire protection concepts, strategies, and engineering solutions for new construction and renovation projects, incorporating sprinkler, alarm, smoke control, and other life safety systems.
  
• Produce and review construction documents, engineering reports, code evaluations, and technical deliverables while coordinating requirements across multiple design disciplines.
  
• Perform fire protection hydraulic calculations, egress evaluations, fire code reviews, and fire and smoke modeling using applicable engineering tools and methodologies.
  
• Support construction administration, design coordination, project scheduling, and resolution of technical issues throughout project delivery.
  
• Contribute to fire protection project management through proposal development, cost-benefit evaluations, financial oversight, and client-facing technical support.
  

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience with a professional A/E services firm preferred, with significant experience in fire protection engineering or related building systems design.
  
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Fire Science preferred.
  
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required; New York PE License strongly preferred.
  
• Advanced knowledge of Fire Protection Design, Fire Sprinkler Design, Fire Alarm Design, and integrated Fire Protection Systems.
  
• Experience with Fire Protection Hydraulic Calculations, Hydraulic Calculation Software and Fire & Smoke Modeling.
  

• Strong understanding of Fire Code Review, Egress Analysis, Code Analysis, and applicable fire and life safety requirements.
  
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex Fire Protection projects involving A/E Services, Construction Administration, Multi-Discipline Design, and Design Coordination.
  
• Strong communication and business development skills, including Proposal Writing, client presentations, technical leadership, and mentoring of engineering staff.
