SAP Insurance Project Manager

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced SAP Insurance Project Manager to lead strategic SAP implementation and transformation initiatives within the insurance domain. The role will be responsible for managing end-to-end project delivery, including scope, timelines, budgets, risks, quality, and stakeholder engagement.

The Project Manager will work closely with business stakeholders, SAP implementation partners, enterprise architects, and technical delivery teams to ensure successful delivery of SAP solutions aligned with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and organizational priorities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Leadership & Governance

• Lead end-to-end SAP implementation and transformation projects.
  
• Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, budgets, timelines, and milestones.
  
• Establish and maintain project governance and reporting structures.
  
• Develop and manage detailed project plans, dependencies, and multiple work streams.
  
• Ensure adherence to organizational project and change management procedures.
  

2. Business & Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate with business owners and stakeholders across insurance functions.
  
• Facilitate business workshops, project meetings, and decision-making sessions.
  
• Manage stakeholder expectations and establish effective communication plans.
  
• Identify and resolve conflicts while driving timely decisions.
  
• Act as the key coordination point between business and technical teams.
  

3. SAP Delivery Management

• Lead and coordinate SAP implementation activities across project work streams.
  
• Oversee the delivery of SAP Portal solutions and their integration with:
  • SAP FS-PM
    
  • SAP FS-CM
    
  • SAP FS-CD
    
  • SAP BW / SAP Data-sphere / SAP SAC
    
  • SAP MDG
    
  • SAP Business Partner
    
• Coordinate with SAP implementation partners and technical teams to ensure delivery against agreed scope and timelines.
  

4. Risk & Issue Management

• Maintain project RAID logs and ensure timely updates.
  
• Identify project risks, issues, dependencies, and constraints.
  
• Develop and monitor appropriate mitigation and resolution plans.
  
• Escalate critical risks and issues through the established governance structure.
  
• Monitor vendor performance and contractual commitments.
  

5. Financial & Budget Management

• Manage project budgets, forecasts, and financial tracking.
  
• Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets.
  
• Approve project-related expenditures where applicable.
  
• Track financial performance against approved business cases.
  
• Ensure effective financial control throughout the project lifecycle.
  

6. Quality Assurance & Testing

• Ensure adherence to defined project methodologies and quality standards.
  
• Establish quality gates, acceptance criteria, and delivery standards.
  
• Oversee the overall testing strategy, including:
  • System Integration Testing (SIT)
    
  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
    
  • Performance Testing
    
  • Cut over Testing
    
• Ensure business and technical teams are prepared for successful go-live.
  

7. Change Management & Adoption

• Coordinate training, communication, and business readiness activities.
  
• Support organizational change initiatives throughout the implementation.
  
• Ensure business readiness for go-live.
  
• Drive user adoption and benefits realization.
  

Requirements

Required Qualifications & Experience

Mandatory Requirements

• 4+ years of project management experience.
  
• 2+ years of experience leading SAP projects.
  
• Proven experience managing projects with budgets exceeding €1 million.
  
• Experience working with external system integrators / implementation partners.
  
• Strong experience in SAP Insurance transformations.
  
• Strong stakeholder management and project governance experience.
  

Preferred Experience

• Experience in Export Credit or Reinsurance.
