GMC Sales Specialist

This position is responsible for generating truck sales through customer relationship building, prospecting and delivering exceptional purchasing experience. This position will spend its time actively selling GMC New and Used vehicles while providing administrative support to the Sales Department. This person will also serves as the backup Finance & Insurance (F&I) representative to start, assisting with financing and compliance activities when the Finance Manager is unavailable or business needs require additional support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Sales Responsibilities

  • Sell new and used GMC New and Used vehicles while meeting or exceeding established sales goals and gross profit objectives.
  • Build relationships with retail and GMC customers through prospecting, networking, referrals, and follow-up.
  • Assist customers in selecting the appropriate truck and equipment based on their operational needs and budget.
  • Demonstrate vehicle features and benefits and conduct test drives when appropriate.
  • Prepare accurate sales quotes, purchase agreements, and sales documentation.
  • Secure deposits and complete all required paperwork according to dealership policies.
  • Coordinate vehicle delivery and provide a thorough orientation of vehicle features, warranty coverage, and service programs.
  • Maintain consistent communication with customers throughout the sales process and after delivery to encourage repeat and referral business.
  • Prospect daily through phone calls, emails, customer visits, and community networking.
  • Maintain a current understanding of product specifications, manufacturer programs, incentives, and market trends.
  • Attend required sales meetings, product training, and manufacturer training sessions.
  • Assist with appraising trade-in vehicles as needed.
  • Maintain CRM records and document customer interactions accurately.

Finance & Insurance Responsibilities

  • Serve as backup to the Finance & Insurance Manager during absences or peak business periods.
  • Assist customers with financing options and explain available protection products.
  • Collect and verify customer financial information for lender submission.
  • Prepare financing and title documentation while ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure all transactions comply with federal, state, lender, and dealership regulations.
  • Coordinate funding paperwork and maintain organized deal files.
  • Work closely with lenders and dealership management to facilitate timely funding.
  • Maintain confidentiality of customer financial and personal information.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support the Sales Manager with administrative and operational tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude while representing the dealership.
  • Work collaboratively with Sales, Service, Parts and Accounting departments to provide outstanding customer experience.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Requirements

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous sales or customer service experience preferred.
  • GMC New and Used truck or automotive dealership experience preferred.
  • Finance & Insurance experience is a plus but not required; training will be provided.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and dealership management systems.
  • Ability to learn financing, compliance, and dealership sales processes.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Professional demeanor and strong ethical standards.

Licenses and Requirements

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to qualify to drive dealership vehicles.
  • Ability to obtain any required licensing or certifications for F&I responsibilities if applicable.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently sit, stand, walk, bend, and reach.
  • Occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to enter and exit GMC New and Used vehicles and participate in vehicle demonstrations.
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
