Mid-Level Litigation Associate - Employment Litigation & Counseling

Total Experience Required: 3–6 years of employment litigation experience in state and/or federal court
Compensation: $175,000, depending on experience
Work Arrangement: Hybrid flexibility, consistent with client and practice needs

About the Role

We’re seeking an employment litigation associate to handle plaintiff and defense matters while providing substantive counseling to employers and employees. The role offers early ownership of matters and direct client interaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage cases and litigation components with increasing independence.
• Draft pleadings, dispositive motions, discovery, and substantive briefs.
• Conduct and defend depositions.
• Appear at hearings, mediations, and settlement conferences.
• Advise employers and employees on litigation and pre-litigation strategy.
• Conduct workplace investigations and assist with internal assessments.
• Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and agency representatives.

Practice Areas

• Discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful termination claims.
• Wage and hour litigation, including class and representative actions.
• Compensation, equity, separation agreement, and restrictive covenant disputes.
• Employment-related trade secret and unfair competition matters.
• State and federal litigation, arbitration, and administrative proceedings.
• Employer counseling on compliance, investigations, discipline, termination, wage practices, and policies.
• Employee counseling on compensation, separation negotiations, and claims evaluation.

Required Qualifications

• 3–6 years of employment litigation experience in state and/or federal court.
• Experience with dispositive motions and discovery management.
• Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Working knowledge of California employment statutes and civil procedure.
• Active California Bar membership or the ability to obtain admission promptly.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience handling both plaintiff and defense employment matters.
