Our client is a Large Government organisation seeking an experienced Supervisor, Fleet Design to join their Fleet Production Team.

Role Summary:

This role will manage engineering projects relating to the design and development of firefighting and specialised vehicles/appliances. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, supervise team members, coordinate engineering activities, manage project delivery and ensure designs meet relevant standards, safety and organisational requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Coordinate and lead engineering tasks for specialised vehicle/appliance design and development, providing innovative and fit-for-purpose technical solutions.
   

2. Supervise and mentor team members, managing workload, performance and delivery outcomes.
   

3. Oversee engineering projects including planning, resource coordination, costing, risk management, reporting and compliance with relevant standards.
   

4. Review and assess designs, drawings, models and specifications to ensure they meet organisational and technical requirements.
   

5. Identify and manage safety, technical, financial and quality risks in line with relevant standards, government policy and best practice.
   

6. Build collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders, engineers, suppliers, technicians and contractors.
   

Selection Criteria:

1. Advanced Diploma in a relevant technical field such as mechanical, civil, electrical/mechatronic engineering, or equivalent technical expertise.
   

2. Strong experience in engineering design principles, including interpretation of drawings, models, specifications and relevant standards.
   

3. Understanding of design best-practice principles and Australian Design Rules.
   

4. Demonstrated experience leading a small technical/design team and delivering design-related outcomes.
   

5. Strong technical management, research, problem-solving and project management capabilities.
   

6. Experience in mechanical, automotive, heavy vehicle, specialised vehicle, fleet or related engineering environments is highly desirable.
   

7. Experience with AutoCAD, Autodesk or similar drafting/design software is highly desirable.
   

8. Emergency services and/or defence experience will be highly regarded.
   

On Offer:
An initial 6-month contract with a NSW Government organisation working on specialised, high-impact projects while building valuable public-sector and leadership experience.
