Senior Software Engineer - shopdev

Our client shopdev is hiring a Senior Software Engineer in Lahore.

About the Role:

Shopdev is looking for a highly capable, AI-native Senior Full-Stack Engineer who can rapidly design, build, and ship high-quality software products using modern agentic coding tools.

We are looking for engineers who have fundamentally evolved the way they develop software by integrating AI coding agents such as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, and similar agentic development harnesses into their daily workflows.

The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering fundamentals with exceptional proficiency in agent-driven development. They can take a product idea from concept to a working, deployed application in a fraction of the time required by conventional development approaches.

This is not a traditional engineering role where AI is used for autocomplete. We want engineers who orchestrate AI agents, provide effective context, break down complex problems, evaluate generated code, and accelerate the entire software development lifecycle.

Our expectation: build better software, significantly faster, without compromising engineering quality.

Key Responsibilities:

Agentic Development & Rapid Product Delivery:

• Use Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, or equivalent agentic coding harnesses as a core part of daily development.
• Rapidly translate product requirements and ideas into functional applications, prototypes, and production-ready features.
• Independently build and deploy end-to-end products spanning frontend, backend, databases, integrations, and infrastructure.
• Orchestrate AI agents for implementation, refactoring, debugging, testing, and documentation.
• Break complex tasks into agent-executable workflows with context, constraints, and acceptance criteria.
• Use parallel agents, reusable instructions, skills, and automated workflows to improve development velocity.
• Experiment with emerging agentic techniques and incorporate effective practices into team workflows.

Software Engineering & Architecture:

• Design and build scalable, reliable, secure, and maintainable full-stack applications.
• Make sound architectural decisions and critically evaluate AI-generated implementations.
• Develop modern frontend applications, backend services, APIs, database models, and third-party integrations.
• Identify architectural flaws, security vulnerabilities, performance issues, and unnecessary complexity in AI-generated code.
• Maintain strong standards for testing, code quality, observability, and production reliability.
• Own the full development lifecycle from concept through deployment and iteration.

Ovnership & Collaboration:

• Take ownership of product development with minimal supervision.
• Work with product and design teams to turn business requirements into working software.
• Demonstrate prototypes early, gather feedback, and iterate quickly.
• Clearly communicate technical decisions, trade-offs, and progress in English.
• Share agentic workflows to improve the engineering team’s productivity.

Agentic Coding Proficiency — Essential

• Demonstrable hands-on proficiency with Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, or comparable autonomous coding harnesses.
• Practical experience building real applications with coding agents, beyond snippets and IDE autocomplete.
• Ability to structure prompts, provide repository context, configure agent instructions, and guide complex multi-step tasks.
• Experience with agentic feature development, debugging, automated testing, refactoring, and codebase exploration.
• Ability to validate, review, and improve AI-generated code rather than accepting output blindly.
• Familiarity with tool permissions, MCP integrations, reusable skills, and multi-agent workflows.
• Demonstrated acceleration of product delivery through agentic coding.

Core Engineering Skills:

• Strong professional experience in full-stack engineering.
• Proficiency with React.js, Next.js, or equivalent modern frontend frameworks.
• Backend development experience using Node.js, Python, or comparable technologies.
• Solid understanding of system design, software architecture, APIs, databases, and distributed applications.
• Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, Docker, CI/CD, and production deployment.
• Strong debugging, problem-solving, and technical decision-making skills.
• Ability to judge whether an AI-generated solution is production-ready.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

• A portfolio of working applications built primarily through agentic coding workflows.
• Evidence of taking a product from idea to deployed MVP in days rather than weeks.
• Experience orchestrating multiple agents across different parts of a project.
• Experience creating reusable agent instructions, custom skills, MCP integrations, or automated pipelines.
• Strong product intuition and pragmatic delivery decisions.
• Active experimentation with emerging coding tools, models, and methodologies.
• A history of independently shipping complete products rather than only assigned tickets.

How We Evaluate Cadidate:

Practical demonstration is more important than claimed AI-tool experience. Shortlisted candidates should be prepared for a time-constrained exercise using Claude Code, Codex, or an equivalent harness.

• Build a functional full-stack product or feature from a brief specification.
• Demonstrate task planning, context management, and agent orchestration.
• Implement frontend, backend, database, and API functionality.
• Explain architectural decisions and review AI-generated code quality.
• Debug issues, write tests, and deploy a working application.

Candidates will be evaluated on execution speed, working-product quality, engineering judgment, and effective use of AI agents.
