Senior Systems Engineer (Client Computing Platforms)

About the Opportunity

On behalf of our international client, Sunbytes is hiring a Remote Senior Systems Engineer (Client Computing Platforms – Application Packaging & Delivery Services) to join their Global IT Infrastructure Services team.

Our client is a global enterprise operating across enterprise, retail, distribution, and manufacturing business segments, running a modern client computing environment that spans Windows and macOS endpoints, iOS and Android mobile devices, and Windows virtual desktops.

In this role, you will be a hands-on subject matter expert in modern client computing and enterprise application packaging and delivery at global scale. You will own the design, standards, packaging, configuration, and ongoing support of all client and mobile application packages, working closely with End User Services, application, information security, and infrastructure teams, as well as vendors and managed service providers.

Key Responsibilities

• Application Packaging & Delivery: Research, engineer, package, and deploy client applications across Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365, macOS, and mobile OS (iOS & Android), integrated with the Microsoft Intune stack, including patching, OS builds/upgrades, release and change management, compliance, and system refreshes.
  

• Day-to-Day Operations: Perform and supervise, together with service vendors, the administration of client computing systems: monitoring, troubleshooting application packaging and deployment issues, system tuning, and capacity management.
  

• Scripting & Automation: Develop solutions using PowerShell, VBScript, Python, JavaScript, and Azure AUM to identify and remediate issues across Windows, macOS, mobile OS, Intune, and M365 Apps. Build automated endpoint health checks and remediation (critical services, failed service restarts, low disk space, high CPU, event log review), and automate client and mobile application updates to reduce manual packaging where possible.
  

• Testing & Quality: Run automated test execution across infrastructure, security, network, systems, applications, hardware, and software to identify bugs and quality issues.
  

• Incident & Change Management: Participate in troubleshooting, incident response, change control, and testing/validation of infrastructure changes across the client computing and distributed environment, including an off-hours on-call rotation.
  

• Vendor & MSP Oversight: Guide contractors and managed service providers performing 24x7 monitoring and alerting, log analysis, approved change execution, OS upgrades, security vulnerability patching, and support ticket resolution.
  

• Architecture, Standards & Strategy: Act as the lead technical resource for client and mobile application packaging and delivery across multiple parallel projects and global IT initiatives. Provide oversight during design, build, test, and operational phases, peer review technical designs against global IT standards, and research and propose new client computing technologies.
  

• Design & Documentation: Participate in cloud and on-prem design sessions, prototypes, and process designs. Maintain architecture standards, SOPs, specifications, technical diagrams, and test scripts.
  

• Stakeholder Communication: Build strong relationships with users, global IT infrastructure, application, and security teams, and external vendors, and provide regular updates to IT management and leadership on projects and initiatives.
  

Requirements

Technical Skills

• 10+ years of enterprise IT experience in large-scale global IT operations, covering design, implementation, migrations, transformations, and deployment rollouts, plus platform architecture, service management, and IT governance.
  

• 10+ years of progressive experience in at least 4 of the following areas:
  

  • Automation and scripting of desktop and mobile application packaging and delivery for Windows, macOS, iOS/Android, and Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), Office 365, via Intune and an enterprise app store
    

  • End User Computing: Microsoft 365, Microsoft Collaboration, Hybrid Azure AD, security administration, Apple enterprise technologies, servers, and networking
    

  • Modern client OS and platforms: Windows, macOS, Linux, Thin-Client OS, iOS/Android, Intune, Azure, Defender, Citrix and Azure Virtual Desktops/Applications
    

  • Virtual and hosted desktops/applications, security hardening and patching, App-Stores, Azure RemoteApp (FSLogix preferred)
    

  • Enterprise MDM/MAM and endpoint management: Intune, SOTI, 10ZiG, Jamf, BeyondTrust EPM, and Remote Support (Bomgar)
    

  • Enterprise client hardware build and deployment: Dell, Apple, HP, Lenovo, 10ZiG, thin clients, Zebra mobile devices, and printing
    

• 5+ years with Infrastructure-as-Code and Configuration-as-Code for on-prem and Azure IaaS/PaaS (virtual networks, VMs, data services)
  

• 5+ years with Agile and CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, Pipelines, Git, Puppet, Chef, or Ansible
  

• 5+ years scripting and automating infrastructure and cloud platforms with Azure PowerShell, PowerShell, Azure ARM/AUM, Python, Bash, Ansible, Broadcom (CA) Automic, including script library management
  

• 5+ years of advanced networking knowledge: TCP/IP, routers, load balancers, XML gateways, IPv4/IPv6, SFTP, SSH, PKI/SSL, DNS, DHCP, HTTPS, URL filtering, NAC
  

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Industrial Engineering, MIS, or a related field preferred, or 10+ years of combined equivalent education and relevant experience
  
• Certification in cloud computing platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS, GCP, PowerShell)
  
• Certifications across client computing technologies (e.g., End User Computing, VDI, application packaging/delivery lifecycle, Microsoft, infrastructure security) are a plus
  
• ITIL certification and experience preferred
