The primary responsibility is conducting livestock checkouts for Tribal members, managing livestock on Tribal lands, responding to livestock conflicts, and protecting public safety by removing stray, nuisance, or dangerous horses and livestock from highways and communities. He/she will oversee the operation and maintenance of Tribal corrals, coordinate livestock handling activities, assist producers with livestock-related issues, and work closely with Tribal members.
Requirements
Additional duties include maintaining fences, developing livestock water systems, operating and maintaining tractors and heavy equipment, assisting with irrigation infrastructure. He/she will help coordinate grazing and agricultural operations and maintain facilities and equipment. Applicants should have extensive livestock handling experience, hands-on experience constructing fences, water developments and other ranch infrastructure, proficiency with heavy equipment operation, and the ability to work independently in remote locations and under varying weather. This position calls for a flexible work schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends. We're looking for someone who wants to grow with the program, and there may be an opportunity for the position to become full-time with benefits in the future. Must have a valid Oregon Driver's license and be insured. Drug testing with random drug tests periodically. Must also submit and pass a criminal background check with Federal, Tribal and State Law Enforcement.
