Peak to Creek Precision Staffing is partnering with a growing manufacturing enterprise seeking a detail-oriented Cost Accounting Analyst to support key cost accounting and financial planning activities.
Working cross-functionally with Operations, Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Finance, this role is essential in analyzing cost drivers, managing inventory integrity, developing financial models, and delivering actionable insights that support strategic business decisions and continuous process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Standard Costing & Manufacturing Variance
- Standard Cost Maintenance: Maintain and update standard costs for direct materials, labor, and overhead across manufacturing operations.
- Variance Analysis: Perform detailed manufacturing variance analysis (purchase price variance, labor efficiency, volume variance) to identify trends and operational inefficiencies.
- Inventory Accounting: Manage inventory accounting activities, including inventory valuation, reserve calculations, obsolescence analysis, and gross margin reconciliations.
- Audit & Physical Counts: Support physical inventory counts and manage ongoing cycle counting programs to ensure data integrity.
- Operational Partnering: Collaborate with Operations and Supply Chain leadership to analyze product cost drivers and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Margin & Product Costing: Perform comprehensive product cost, pricing, and margin analysis for both legacy product lines and new product introductions.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist with budgeting, forecasting, long-range financial planning, and financial modeling for manufacturing operations.
- Systems & Reporting: Leverage ERP systems to streamline financial reporting processes, ensure data accuracy, and deliver clear, actionable metrics to executive leadership.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Experience: 3+ years of progressive experience in cost accounting, manufacturing finance, or financial analysis.
- Domain Focus: Demonstrated experience in a manufacturing environment working with standard costing and inventory valuation.
- Technical Mastery: Experience utilizing enterprise ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Dynamics 365) alongside advanced Microsoft Excel skills (financial modeling, pivot tables, complex formulas).
- Communication & Collaboration: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with a proven ability to collaborate across non-finance operational departments.
- Advanced certifications such as CMA (Certified Management Accountant) or CPA are a plus.
- Hands-on experience with bill of materials (BOM) management and routing setups.
