Data Analytics Internship

This Data Analytics Internship is a full-time, remote position focused on supporting our work with a major Spanish infrastructure group. We are looking for an individual who can help us organize and interpret data to support better management decisions. This is an entry-level role designed for someone who enjoys finding patterns in information and presenting them in a way that is easy to understand. You will work closely with our advisory team to ensure that the evidence we use to guide our clients is accurate and clear.

About the Role
At Olive Tree, we help leaders fix the friction in their daily operations. For our work with the Spanish infrastructure group, this involves analyzing how projects move from planning to execution. Data is a central part of this process. We do not use data to create complex models that no one understands. Instead, we use it to show where decisions are stalling or where priorities are conflicting. The intern will help us gather this information, clean it, and turn it into simple reports that make the current state of the organization visible to its leaders. Because we are a fully remote firm, you will manage your tasks independently while staying in close contact with the team through written updates and regular video calls.

What You Will Do

• Gather raw data from client reports and project management logs related to the infrastructure group.
• Clean and organize datasets to ensure we are working with accurate information.
• Create simple, clear visualizations that highlight bottlenecks or delays in project workflows.
• Help the advisory team identify recurring issues by looking at historical project data.
• Maintain the internal records we use to track our own progress on client engagements.
• Write brief summaries of what the data shows, avoiding jargon and focusing on plain facts.
• Check the work of other team members to ensure our numbers are consistent across different reports.
• Assist in building basic dashboards that clients can use to monitor their management rhythms.

What We Are Looking For
We value people who are methodical and calm. You should be someone who notices when a number seems out of place and feels the need to find out why. Since we communicate mostly in writing, you need to be able to explain technical findings in plain English. We are not looking for a specific degree, but we do need someone who is comfortable working with numbers and logic. You should be able to manage your own schedule in a remote setting and be comfortable asking for clarification when a task is unclear. A quiet persistence in solving small problems is more important to us than familiarity with high-level theory.

Helpful Background

• Basic proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets, including the use of formulas and pivot tables.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau or PowerBI is useful but not required.
• An interest in how large organizations function and how they complete big projects.
• Experience with basic coding or SQL is a plus, though most of our work is done in simpler formats.
• Strong writing skills and a preference for clear, direct communication.
• Previous experience with administrative or organizational tasks, even in a non-data role.
