Software & Database Developer (Python / Backend / AWS)

Business Alliance HR is recruiting a Software & Database Developer (Python / Backend / AWS) for a High-tech company working in the Biotechnology, computational biology, and applied AI Industry, located in Jordan.

Employment Type: Permanent / Full-time (Remote for Jordanian-based Candidates)

Job Summary:

The candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining secure, scalable backend applications and databases, while building integrations with external healthcare partners, including hospitals, laboratories, and clinical/diagnostic platforms. The role requires strong experience in Python, databases, AWS, APIs, ETL processes, and secure data integration, with a strong focus on healthcare and sensitive data.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and maintain backend applications using Python, preferably FastAPI.

  2. Design, develop, and maintain relational and NoSQL databases for clinical, laboratory, and semi-structured data.

  3. Write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, indexes, and database structures.

  4. Build and integrate REST APIs and external services using clean architecture, SOLID principles, and established design patterns.

  5. Develop and maintain integrations with hospital, laboratory, EHR/EMR, HIS, and LIS systems using standards such as HL7, FHIR, or DICOM where applicable.

  6. Build secure file-based integrations using SFTP/FTPS and AWS Transfer Family for automated data exchange.

  7. Develop Python scripts and ETL processes for data processing, validation, transformation, and normalization.

  8. Deploy, monitor, and manage applications and databases on AWS, ensuring appropriate security, access controls, encryption, and audit logging.

  9. Troubleshoot and optimize application, database, and integration performance, including query tuning and resolving data or connectivity issues.

  10. Maintain data quality, security, backup, and disaster recovery processes for sensitive healthcare data.

  11. Apply secure coding practices and software development best practices, including Git, code reviews, testing, branching, and CI/CD.



Requirements

  1. Strong proficiency in Python, with 3+ years of professional experience and experience with frameworks such as FastAPI.

  2. Strong SQL skills and practical experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server.

  3. Practical experience with NoSQL/document databases such as MongoDB or Amazon DocumentDB.

  4. Strong understanding of Clean Code, SOLID principles, software design patterns, and maintainable architecture.

  5. Experience building and consuming REST APIs, including authentication, authorization, API versioning, and rate limiting.

  6. Experience with AWS services such as EC2, ECS, Lambda, S3, RDS, DocumentDB, IAM, and security groups.

  7. Experience with ETL pipelines and data integration across different systems and data formats.

  8. Experience with FTP/SFTP protocols and secure automated file exchange.

  9. Strong understanding of application and database security, including encryption, secrets management, and least-privilege access.

  10. Familiarity with Git workflows and CI/CD pipelines.

  11. Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills, particularly in production and cross-system integration environments.

  12. Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience in healthtech, biotech, healthcare, or life sciences software development is highly preferred.

  2. Familiarity with HL7 v2, FHIR, DICOM, and clinical data models.

  3. Experience with Docker and AWS ECS Fargate.

  4. Experience with message queues such as SQS/SNS, RabbitMQ, or Kafka.

  5. Exposure to monitoring and observability tools such as AWS CloudWatch.

  6. Awareness of healthcare data regulations such as HIPAA or relevant regional requirements.

Years of experience: 3+ years of experience in Python/Backend Software Development, with strong database and AWS experience. Education: A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields.
Location: Remote for Jordanian-based Candidates.
Salary: JOD 1,100 - 1,400
Languages Required: English & Arabic.
