We are hiring a Medical Scientist – Histology into our Hospital in Dublin, Ireland.
Responsibilities
-
Assist in developing, maintaining and implementing laboratory procedures and best-practice standards to support efficient use of resources and high-quality service delivery.

Perform scientific laboratory duties in accordance with INAB, JCI and relevant professional standards, while prioritising workload and coordinating multiple testing activities during busy periods.

Support quality management programmes, including internal and external quality control, audits, non-conformance reporting, complaint investigation and maintenance of quality assurance standards.

Assist with laboratory stock management, equipment monitoring, health and safety procedures, accident prevention and compliance with relevant legislation and hospital policies.

Participate in staff training, professional development, research projects and the introduction of new technologies and practices within the laboratory.

Support the development and use of laboratory information systems, including the collection, interpretation and presentation of departmental activity, staffing and expenditure data.

Maintain professional communication and teamwork, participate in performance review processes, and demonstrate flexibility in undertaking other duties as required to ensure an effective and efficient laboratory service.
Requirements

Possess or be eligible for membership of the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine (ACSLM), CORU or an equivalent professional body.

Have a minimum of 1 year of in-service training across relevant laboratory disciplines, along with appropriate post-qualification experience.

Demonstrate essential experience in Histology, with previous Cut-Up experience considered an advantage.

Possess strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills, with a professional, dedicated and adaptable approach to laboratory work.

Demonstrate knowledge of modern laboratory practices, quality control requirements, accreditation standards, relevant legislation and the delivery of a quality laboratory service.

Have a good understanding of laboratory information systems, IT applications, health and safety requirements, and the relationship between the laboratory and other hospital departments.

Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and coordinate with laboratory management and other hospital departments to support the delivery of an efficient laboratory service.
