EPG is currently seeking a Controls / Firmware Engineer for one of our partners that is an established high-voltage battery and power-electronics company bringing technology proven in demanding, high-reliability applications to a new backup-power product for AI data centers. In this position, you will own the embedded controls and firmware that tie the battery, converter, and rack together and make the system run and fail-safe.

Responsibilities
  • Own the control architecture tying BMS, power converter, and rack power management together.
  • Write charge/discharge algorithms and mode transitions (grid-tied, UPS, islanded).
  • Build fault detection, protection, and graceful-degradation logic.
  • Implement communications to datacenter IT (Modbus, CANbus, PMBus).
  • Own hardware-in-the-loop and system-level testing.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • 5+ years of embedded controls or firmware for power systems.
  • Real-time control of power converters or BMS.
  • Embedded C/C++ with CANbus and/or Modbus.
  • This role is onsite in the Pacific Northwest. Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship (US Persons only, export-control requirement).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Datacenter power/IT protocols (PMBus, Redfish, SNMP).
  • Aerospace or automotive controls adaptable to stationary systems.
  • Functional safety (IEC 61508, ISO 26262).

Benefits

  • Annual performance bonus: eligible for an annual performance-based bonus (typically around 7 to 8% at this level), awarded on performance after you join.
  • Equity: a company stock option program is planned, with leadership committed to rolling it out by the end of the year.
  • Health coverage: approximately 100% company-paid medical, dental, and vision for you and your family.
  • Retirement: roughly 9% 401(k) match.
  • Location advantage: based in Everett, WA, with no Washington state income tax.
  • The opportunity: join a well-funded, roughly 100-person company moving like a startup, building a clean-sheet 800V product from concept to production, where your work ships rather than sits on a shelf.
