Civil / Structural / Temporary Works Engineer

We are Sisco Jobs, a recruitment consultancy based in Trichy, Tamil Nadu. We are hiring on behalf of our client for the position of Civil / Structural / Temporary Works Engineer in Trichy, Tamil Nadu. Our client is a reputed organization in the grid infrastructure and power transmission engineering sector seeking skilled, motivated professionals. Key Responsibilities

• Develop civil, structural and temporary-works design basis documents, calculations, drawings, specifications and schedules for high-voltage substation infrastructure.
  
• Design and coordinate equipment foundations, transformer/reactor bases, bunds, buildings, structural steelwork, gantries and supports.
  
• Engineer cable trenches, ducts, joint bays, roads, drainage systems, fencing and associated external works.
  
• Interpret geotechnical information and establish appropriate foundation, earthworks, settlement, drainage and ground-improvement requirements.
  
• Develop temporary-works concepts and designs covering excavations, access, lifting/support arrangements, formwork, falsework, propping and construction stages within demonstrated competence.
  
• Assess permanent, temporary and construction-stage load cases including equipment, wind, thermal, seismic where applicable and accidental actions.
  
• Coordinate civil and structural interfaces with primary plant, cables, earthing, BIM, architecture, fire/environmental requirements and construction methodology.
  
• Prepare design risk assessments, review supplier/subcontractor calculations and drawings, resolve technical queries, and ensure appropriate independent checking and approval.
  

Required Skills

1. Civil & Structural Design: Strong hands-on capability in producing calculations, drawings and design packages for infrastructure projects.
   
2. Reinforced Concrete & Structural Steelwork: Ability to design foundations, buildings, equipment bases, gantries, supports and associated structures.
   
3. Foundation & Geotechnical Interfaces: Ability to interpret geotechnical information and incorporate ground conditions, settlement and equipment constraints into foundation design.
   
4. Temporary Works: Competence in temporary-works design or coordination, construction-stage stability and independently checked temporary designs.
   
5. Eurocodes & British Standards: Working knowledge of Eurocode load combinations and relevant British Standards, with awareness of UK temporary-works practice.
   

Preferred Skills

• Hands-on use of STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, Robot or equivalent structural-analysis software.
  
• AutoCAD proficiency with BIM model-review capability; Revit or Tekla familiarity is advantageous.
  
• Experience with UK grid, transmission, high-voltage substation or comparable critical-infrastructure projects.
  

Work Experience Requirements

Candidates must have 8–12 years of relevant professional experience in civil/structural design with substantial hands-on responsibility for discipline deliverables. Experience must include high-voltage power, transmission, substations, utilities or directly comparable critical infrastructure. Site-management-only profiles are insufficient; candidates must demonstrate direct authorship of calculations and drawings.

Education

Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
Preferred: Relevant postgraduate qualification
Additional: Chartered/professional status is advantageous
