Our client is a well-established, boutique public accounting firm providing high-touch tax and advisory services to closely held businesses and individuals. Known for its technical depth, client-first mindset, and collaborative culture, the firm delivers thoughtful, practical tax solutions across a wide range of entity structures. As the firm continues to grow, they are seeking an experienced Tax Senior to contribute to both client service and team collaboration.

About the Role

This is an opportunity for a recently promoted or emerging Tax Senior who is still actively preparing returns but has begun taking on review responsibilities and managing client relationships directly. You'll work alongside experienced leadership in a collaborative, high-touch environment where your technical growth and client-facing development are supported.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and begin reviewing complex federal and state tax returns for individuals and closely held businesses, including Forms 1040, 1120, 1120S, and 1065.

  • Support tax engagements from planning through completion, maintaining high standards for accuracy, timeliness, and client communication.

  • Assist with proactive tax planning and advisory services, including tax projections and scenario-based planning to support client decision-making.

  • Begin taking ownership of client relationships, serving as a direct point of contact under manager oversight.

  • Contribute to quality control by reviewing work prepared by staff-level accountants.

  • Work primarily in CCH Axcess (tax) and CCH Engagement (accounting), with Lacerte used in the background. Familiarity with other platforms such as Drake is a plus.

Requirements

  • 3–6 years of dedicated tax experience in public accounting.

  • Strong experience in a boutique or small-to-mid-sized firm environment with hands-on exposure to 1040, 1120, 1120S, and 1065 work.

  • Currently preparing complex returns and beginning to take on review responsibilities.

  • Starting to manage client accounts and relationships directly.

  • CPA or EA licensed preferred

  • Self-starter mentality with the ability to work independently and take ownership.

  • Strong communication skills and growing confidence interacting directly with clients.

  • Ability to work 9–5 Central Time.

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary with a discretionary tax season bonus

  • Medical insurance (PPO or HMO) with HSA compatibility
