p>We are looking for a Scrum Master Intern to help organize our internal workflows as our client manages a major digital infrastructure overhaul. This role is a full-time, fully remote position designed for someone who wants to apply agile principles within the specific context of high-stakes financial advisory and economic modeling.
About Blue Oak Consulting
Blue Oak Consulting provides independent advisory on pricing, portfolio economics, capital allocation, and acquisition assumptions. We are not a traditional consulting firm focused on broad transformation programs or high-level strategy decks. Instead, we interrogate specific commercial decisions where the financial stakes are high and the existing narrative is not sufficient. Our team looks past corporate language and P&L complexity to identify where value is leaking or capital is trapped. We work across sectors like software, manufacturing, and healthcare to test whether the assumptions behind a growth plan or an acquisition actually hold under pressure. We are a small, principal-led firm where the people who do the work are the ones accountable for the results. We do not take transaction-contingent fees, which allows us to be completely honest about whether the economics of a decision make sense. Our goal is to provide clarity through financial discipline and a healthy amount of skepticism. We stay through the execution phase because decisions that look sound in theory often fail when they meet real-world friction.
The Role
In this role, you will help our team maintain a disciplined pace while working on complex advisory projects. Because we work in a fully remote environment, clear coordination and organized documentation are essential to our success. You will not just be managing tasks: you will be observing how financial assumptions are tested and how data is translated into commercial decisions. You will support the principals by ensuring that the feedback loops between our analysis and the client's needs remain tight and effective. This is an opportunity to see how project management keeps a small, high-output team focused on results rather than just activity.

What You Will Be Doing
- Facilitating daily check-ins to ensure team members are aligned on current analytical priorities.
- Assisting in the organization of project backlogs, ensuring that financial modeling tasks and data requests are clearly defined.
- Monitoring project timelines for our work on a major digital infrastructure engagement to help identify potential bottlenecks early.
- Documenting the outcomes of sprint planning and review sessions to maintain a clear record of decision-making logic.
- Helping the team remove obstacles that slow down the pace of data gathering or model validation.
- Working with remote collaboration tools to keep project boards updated and reflective of the current status.
- Gathering basic metrics on team output to help us refine how we estimate the time required for complex financial investigations.
- Supporting the execution phase of our projects by tracking the implementation of pricing or capital allocation recommendations.
- A completed or ongoing degree in business, project management, economics, or a related field.
- A basic understanding of agile principles and the Scrum framework, even if only from coursework or personal projects.
- Strong organizational skills and an ability to keep track of multiple moving parts without losing focus.
- Curiosity about how businesses actually make money and a willingness to look beneath the surface of a corporate narrative.
- Comfort working in a 100 percent remote setting, which requires proactive communication and self-discipline.
- Clear written communication skills for documenting technical and financial project requirements.
- A preference for logic and data over vague descriptions or broad generalizations.
- The ability to handle confidential financial information with a high degree of professional integrity.
- A fully remote work environment that values output over time spent at a desk.
- This is a paid position, and the compensation is competitive for an internship in the current market.
- Direct exposure to senior principals and their approach to complex financial problem-solving.
- Practical experience applying Scrum methodology to a specialized consulting environment rather than a standard software shop.
- A workplace culture that values skepticism, clarity, and directness.
- Access to the firm's internal training on financial modeling and capital allocation assumptions.
