Position Summary

The Early Childhood Education Director Assistant supports the Director in the daily operations of the early childhood program. This role helps ensure effective staff supervision, regulatory compliance, student safety, family communication, accurate records, and consistent implementation of school policies and procedures.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Support daily center operations and implementation of school policies and procedures.
  • Monitor student attendance, health and safety procedures, classroom operations, and required documentation.
  • Coordinate daily and weekly staff schedules and classroom coverage.
  • Support staff supervision, communication, delegation of duties, and conflict resolution.
  • Assist with new-hire onboarding, training, professional development, and employee records.
  • Maintain compliance with Colorado childcare licensing requirements and applicable federal, state, and county regulations.
  • Maintain required student, staff, health, safety, licensing, and compliance records.
  • Monitor classroom environments for health, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support licensing inspections, meetings, corrective actions, and required reporting.
  • Build positive relationships with students, families, teachers, and community service providers.
  • Conduct center tours and orientations for prospective and newly enrolled families.
  • Respond to family questions, concerns, and requests in a professional and timely manner.
  • Collaborate with teachers, nurses, special education providers, and other professionals to support student learning plans, accommodations, and individual care needs.
  • Support classroom instruction, student behavior, attendance, documentation, and daily routines as needed.
  • Assist with classroom materials, supplies, sanitation, food handling, and health and safety practices.
  • Provide classroom supervision or coverage when operational needs require.
  • Assist students with personal care needs, including feeding and toileting, when required.
  • Support positive behavior guidance and appropriate responses to challenging situations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.
  • Three years of early childhood teaching experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Colorado childcare licensing requirements and early childhood regulations.
  • Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to supervise, support, and collaborate with teachers and other staff.
  • Ability to work effectively with families, children, and interdisciplinary service providers.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced early childhood environment.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and challenging behaviors professionally.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Experience working with diverse children and families is preferred.
  • Successful completion of required criminal background check and fingerprinting.

Required Certifications & Training

  • Colorado Department of Human Services Early Childhood Teacher qualification/certification, as applicable.
  • Colorado Shines PDIS Level 3 or higher.
  • Completion of all required Colorado Department of Human Services and Early Childhood Department training and certifications.
  • Maintenance of all required certifications, licenses, and professional development.
