About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive commercial growth within its Clearing & Forwarding and Container Freight Station (CFS) business. This is a strategic client-facing B2B role requiring a commercially driven professional with extensive experience in the logistics industry and a proven ability to develop new business, strengthen key client relationships, and expand market presence.

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying revenue opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and positioning the organization as a preferred logistics partner across East and Central Africa.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify, develop, and secure new B2B business opportunities within the Clearing & Forwarding and CFS sector.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with shipping lines, freight forwarders, importers, exporters, and corporate clients.
• Develop and execute business development strategies to achieve revenue and market growth targets.
• Generate and manage a robust sales pipeline while ensuring timely follow-up on business opportunities.
• Prepare commercial proposals, negotiate contracts, and successfully close business deals.
• Conduct market research to identify industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging business opportunities.
• Represent the organization at industry events, networking forums, and client meetings.
• Collaborate closely with operations teams to ensure seamless service delivery and exceptional customer satisfaction.
• Provide regular sales forecasts, pipeline updates, and business performance reports to management.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• 10–15 years of experience in the Clearing and Forwarding industry, with significant exposure to B2B business development.
• Proven track record of winning new business and managing strategic client accounts.
• Strong understanding of Container Freight Station (CFS) operations, customs clearance, freight forwarding, and logistics services.
• Extensive professional network within the logistics, shipping, and freight forwarding industry.
• Excellent negotiation, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
