SUMMARY

A private household is seeking a warm, proactive, and dependable Caregiver-Companion to provide day-to-day companionship and assistance to a  principal.

The ideal candidate is naturally attentive, spontaneous, and self-initiated, with the ability to recognize what needs to be done and take appropriate action without requiring constant direction. The role is well suited to someone who enjoys providing companionship while also contributing to the smooth running of the household.

Responsibilities will include accompanying the principal in her daily activities, driving her to appointments and errands, assisting with light household duties, laundry, and meal preparation, and proposing and joining her for activities such as walks, gardening, and church.

This is a live-in position, with private accommodation provided within the residence. The successful candidate should be comfortable becoming part of the principal's daily routine while integrating gradually and respectfully into the household dynamic.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Companionship & Daily Assistance

• Provide attentive and engaging companionship to the principal.
  
• Assist with daily activities and routines as needed.
  
• Accompany the principal on walks, while gardening, and during other activities.
  
• Accompany the principal to church.
  
• Encourage a comfortable, active, and pleasant daily routine.
  
• Remain attentive to the principal's needs and take initiative when assistance is required.
  
• Provide physical assistance in the event of a fall or emergency and be capable of safely helping the principal as required.
  

Driving & Appointments

• Drive the principal to medical appointments, errands, church, and other outings.
  
• Accompany the principal during appointments and activities when required.
  
• Assist with errands and other day-to-day transportation needs.
  

Meal & Household Support

• Work alongside the principal to assist with the preparation of lunch and dinner.
  
• Provide light kitchen assistance, including basic food preparation such as washing and cutting vegetables.
  
• Perform light housekeeping to help maintain a clean, comfortable, and organized environment.
  
• Handle laundry and related household tasks.
  
• Assist with other reasonable day-to-day household duties as needed.
  

Pet Care

• Be comfortable around the household's cat.
  
• Assist with the cat's basic care as required.

• Comfortable with cats.
  

REQUIREMENTS

• Previous experience in caregiving, companionship, private service, or a related role is an asset.
  
• Valid driver's licence and confidence driving the principal to appointments and activities.
  
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English.
  
• Ability to provide appropriate physical assistance to the principal when required.
  
• Comfortable assisting with light housekeeping, laundry, and meal preparation.
  
• Comfortable accompanying the principal to church.
  
• Willing and able to live in the residence.
  

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Position: Full-time, live-in
  
• Schedule: Approximately 40 hours per week
  
• Working days: Saturday through Wednesday
  
• Days off: Thursday and Friday
  
• Approximately eight hours of work per day, with the schedule structured around the principal's daily routine.
  
• Working hours may be split throughout the day to provide assistance at the times when it is most needed.
  
• The daily schedule and morning start time will be agreed upon with the household.
  
• Accommodation: Private bedroom and private bathroom provided on the same floor of the residence.
