Research Manager

Position Overview
Sproxil runs a growing portfolio of grant-funded research and public-health programs, and is scaling its academic-grade publication output as a core part of how it markets and validates that work. We are building new data analysis capacity and are engaging multiple university collaborators. The Research & Publications Manager will own the end-to-end pipeline that turns Sproxil's program data and field results into peer-reviewed publications, technical reports, and conference presentations managing a portfolio of roughly ten concurrent research programs and their external collaborators at any given time.

Key Responsibilities

•  Own and drive Sproxil's academic-grade publication pipeline for grant-funded research, from manuscript planning through peer review, revision, and submission.
  
•  Manage a portfolio of up to ten concurrent research programs and their associated external collaborators (university professors, research partners, regulatory bodies, and grant funders), keeping each on track against its own timeline and deliverables.
  
•  Partner closely with the Data & Analytics team to translate program and survey data into publication-ready analysis, manuscripts, and technical reports.
  
•  Integrate and align Sproxil's program and research data with relevant national data platforms and repositories such as the National Malaria Data Repository (NMDR) ensuring accurate, timely submission and interoperability with these systems where required.
  
• Work with the Grants function to align research design, grant compliance requirements, and reporting obligations across active and prospective grants.
  
•  Lead or support the design of future surveys and research protocols in collaboration with technical and program leads.
  
•  Coordinate ethical clearance / IRB submissions for new and ongoing grant-funded research, partnering with the Grants function on timing and documentation.
  
•  Proactively identify and submit abstracts, papers, and presentations to relevant academic and industry conferences in Nigeria and internationally, on behalf of company leadership and technical staff who will present.
  
•  Maintain a master publications and research tracker, reporting pipeline status, risks, and upcoming deadlines to Operations and Grants leadership.
  
•  Manage relationships with external academic collaborators, including onboarding new university partners as new grant-funded programs are awarded.
  
•  Represent Sproxil in relevant scientific and professional networks to support the company's research visibility and reputation.
  

What Success Looks Like in Year One

•  At least 6 manuscripts or technical reports submitted for publication (peer-reviewed or technical) within the first 12 months.
  
•  At least 3 of the current backlog programs brought to submission or publication stage.
  
•  A functioning, collaborative working rhythm established with the Data & Analytics team and university partners, with at least one joint publication or protocol in progress with an academic partner.
  
•  100% of completed, eligible program data reconciled and submitted to relevant national repositories such as the NMDR, with no submission backlog older than one quarter.
  
•  100% of new grant applications requiring ethical clearance submitted within 4 weeks of grant award notification, with zero missed regulatory deadlines.
  
• At least 6 conference abstract or paper submissions made on behalf of company leadership and technical staff, with at least 3 accepted for presentation.
  

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

•  Advanced degree (PhD strongly preferred; Master's considered for exceptional candidates) in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, health economics, pharmacy, social sciences, or a related field.
  
•  A minimum of 10 years' experience in research management, scientific/academic publishing, or grant-funded program research ideally within global health, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, or health-tech.
  
• Demonstrated track record of peer-reviewed publications, as lead author, co-author, or program lead.
  
•  Proven experience managing multiple concurrent research workstreams involving external academic and institutional collaborators.
  
•  Working familiarity with clinical and regulatory research processes in Nigeria (e.g., NAFDAC) and with ethical clearance / IRB procedures.
  
•  Strong scientific and grant writing, editing, and data-storytelling skills.
  
•  Experience preparing and submitting conference abstracts, papers, and presentation materials.
  
•  Excellent stakeholder management comfortable working across senior leadership, external professors and academic partners, regulators, and internal technical teams.
  
•  At least 5 years of that experience specifically within the Nigerian health, pharmaceutical, or public health sector.
  
•  Familiarity with national health/program data systems (e.g., the National Malaria Data Repository, DHIS2, or similar platforms) is a strong plus.
