Production Shift Supervisor | A-SAFE | Elland, West Yorkshire | Continental Shifts 4 on/4off |

Are you an experienced manufacturing professional who can lead from the shop floor, keep production on plan and bring out the best in your team?

As a Production Shift Supervisor at A-SAFE, you’ll oversee day-to-day activity on the production floor, making sure people, processes and materials come together safely and efficiently. Reporting to the Shift Manager, you’ll lead Production Operatives, set clear priorities and keep the shift focused on production targets, quality standards and company procedures.

This is a visible, hands-on supervisory role in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You’ll monitor production lines, coordinate work across the shift and respond quickly when quality, materials, equipment or staffing affect the plan. You’ll also make sure products are manufactured to specification, packaged and labelled correctly, recorded in the right quantities and handled and stored in a way that protects their quality and integrity.

You’ll combine practical shop-floor leadership with disciplined production control, keeping accurate records, monitoring performance, maintaining inventory control, completing audits and delivering clear shift handovers.

How you will make an impact:

  • Lead Production Operatives across the shift, providing clear direction, sharing updates and acting as the first point of contact for day-to-day questions and concerns.
  • Put health and safety first, enforcing company policies and maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Monitor production lines and coordinate shift activity so schedules, production targets and internal and external timed deliveries are achieved.
  • Make sure products meet required quality standards and are correctly packaged, labelled, identified, counted, handled and stored.
  • Troubleshoot production and quality issues, raise nonconformity reports and follow the Non-Conforming Product Process, escalating when an issue cannot be resolved on shift.
  • Maintain production logs and record and analyse performance measures, including Overall Equipment Effectiveness, Process Analysis Boards and MRD data, as directed by the management team.
  • Carry out regular audits, maintain accurate inventory control and work with the Warehouse to coordinate raw-material availability.
  • Make sure production documentation is completed correctly and stored in line with company policy.
  • Coordinate the timely transfer of finished goods to The Cube for shipping and undertake stock-check investigations when required.
  • Maintain strong 5S standards, including cleaning, inspection, detection, correction and end-of-shift housekeeping.
  • Take ownership of Standard Operating Procedures, helping generate SOPs, making sure they are displayed correctly and checking that the team follows them.
  • Make sure team members are trained on existing and new products, building cross-functional capability across the team.
  • Conduct return-to-work and investigation meetings, and provide constructive coaching and feedback to improve performance.
  • Recommend and implement practical process improvements that increase efficiency and reduce waste.

What we are looking for:

  • Experience in a manufacturing/production environment, with a clear understanding of production-floor standards, pressures and priorities.
  • Previous experience leading, supervising or coordinating people in a production setting, with the confidence to maintain authority while remaining approachable.
  • Effective spoken and written English, with the ability to communicate tasks, goals, shift updates and feedback clearly.
  • A strong safety and quality mindset, with close attention to procedures, documentation, housekeeping and product integrity.
  • Practical problem-solving skills and the judgement to make confident decisions under pressure or escalate at the right time.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills, including the ability to prioritise work, balance operational demands with team support and deliver a smooth handover.
  • Experience maintaining production records, monitoring performance information, completing audits or supporting stock and inventory control.
  • The adaptability and resilience to stay calm when priorities change, demand increases or absence affects the shift plan.

You’ll also bring:

  • A leadership style that motivates and guides people, sets clear expectations and leads by example.
  • The ability to listen actively, resolve issues calmly and communicate business objectives and operational changes in a straightforward way.
  • A team-focused approach, with a genuine interest in recognising strengths, developing capability and supporting team cohesion.
  • Accountability for shift outcomes, with the reliability to meet targets and support the wider manufacturing operation.
  • A customer-focused mindset, understanding how quality, delivery and professional handling of concerns contribute to customer satisfaction.

Why you’ll love working with us:

You’ll join a growing, high-tech manufacturing operation where the Production Shift Supervisor has a direct impact on safety, quality, delivery and the day-to-day experience of the team. You’ll be close to the operation, trusted to make decisions and supported by the Shift Manager as you build team capability and improve performance.

This role gives you the opportunity to combine hands-on manufacturing knowledge with people leadership, structured problem-solving and continuous improvement. You’ll have real ownership of your shift area and the chance to make practical changes that help the operation run more safely, consistently and efficiently.
