Estimator (Offshore / Remote)

This is a remote position.
We're recruiting an Estimator to work remotely with an established commercial construction company based in Adelaide, South Australia. The business is building its estimating capability and needs someone who can review construction drawings, quantify materials and components, and prepare accurate quantity take-offs and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for commercial construction projects, working directly with their Senior Estimator in Australia.
This is a measurement and take-off role, not a pricing role. You will not set prices, market rates or negotiate with subcontractors. All take-offs, BOQs and tender inputs are prepared under the direction of the Senior Estimator and submitted for their review, which makes this a strong role for someone who wants to build a career in estimating with structured guidance and feedback. Your work feeds directly into live tenders and variations, so accuracy, clear descriptions and traceability back to the drawings matter more than speed.
Key responsibilities:
- Review architectural, structural and services drawings, specifications and schedules to understand project scope and what needs to be measured
- Count and quantify construction components, materials, fixtures, doors, columns and other scheduled items by trade or work package
- Calculate areas, volumes, linear lengths and item counts accurately and consistently
- Prepare clear, itemised Bills of Quantities with standard descriptions, units of measure, drawing references and trade breakdowns
- Enter dimensions, measurements and quantities into Bluebeam and CostX and keep accurate electronic records
- Identify discrepancies, missing details, conflicting information and scope gaps in the documentation, and refer them promptly to the Senior Estimator
- Assist with trade scopes, quotation request packages, quotation comparisons and tender documentation using completed take-offs
- Prepare measurements, quantities and supporting documentation for variations
- Check your own calculations, references, descriptions and quantities before submitting work for review
- Maintain organised take-off files, marked-up drawings, BOQs and calculation records in line with company procedures
- Take on feedback and progressively improve drawing literacy, measurement accuracy and software proficiency
Must have:
- Relevant experience, study or demonstrated interest in construction estimating, quantity surveying, civil or structural engineering, architecture, building or a closely related discipline
- Ability to read and interpret detailed technical construction drawings, specifications and schedules
- Basic knowledge of construction methods, materials and specifications, with a genuine willingness to keep developing technical knowledge
- Strong mathematical accuracy when calculating geometry, areas, volumes and linear measurements
- High attention to detail and a methodical, consistent approach to measurement, data entry and BOQ preparation
- Strong computer literacy, and either existing proficiency in Bluebeam and CostX or the ability to become proficient quickly
- Clear written and spoken English, and the ability to communicate professionally with an Australian project team
- Good time management and the ability to complete allocated take-offs within tender deadlines
Highly regarded:
- Hands-on experience with Bluebeam, CostX, Planswift or similar take-off and estimating software
- Previous take-off or estimating work for Australian or New Zealand construction projects, or familiarity with Australian drawing conventions and measurement standards
- Experience preparing BOQs for commercial or multi-trade projects
What is on offer:
- PHP 60,000 per month
- Full time, Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 4:00pm Philippine time with a one hour lunch break
- Work from home
- Initial 1 to 2 month freelancer trial, then full-time employment with benefits through Australian Pathways OPC, the legal employer for this role
- Estimating software provided by the client. You will need your own reliable computer and a stable internet connection; a second monitor is an advantage for drawing work
- Direct mentoring from an experienced Senior Estimator and a clear path to grow your estimating skills on real commercial projects
How to apply:
Apply with your current CV. Shortlisted applicants will be asked to complete a short pre-screening questionnaire, followed by a recorded pre-screening interview.
