Software Engineer I

About the Role

We are building a cutting-edge technology platform and are looking for a highly motivated Back End Software Engineer to join our team in Bangalore, India. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in backend development, preferably with exposure to Financial Services, Real Assets (Oil & Gas, Real Estate, etc.), or Fintech. Hands-on experience with our technology stack—including Ruby on Rails, Kafka, Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, Redis, and Azure—is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in the design, development, testing, and maintenance of backend services and APIs.
• Collaborate with senior engineers, front-end developers, UX/UI designers, and other cross-functional stakeholders to enhance product functionality and user experience.
• Assist in defining software requirements and technical solutions in collaboration with business and product teams.
• Participate in code reviews and follow engineering best practices, with a focus on clean, maintainable, and scalable code.
• Work with both SQL and NoSQL databases in cloud-based environments such as Azure.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of CI/CD pipelines and engineering processes.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize backend applications and services.
• Continuously learn and stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and development best practices.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent relevant professional experience will also be considered.
• 1+ years of experience in backend software development.
• Strong experience building and maintaining scalable backend applications and services.
• Experience working in collaborative, cross-functional engineering teams.

Technical Skills

Programming Languages & Frameworks

• Strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails.
• Strong understanding of modern programming concepts, data structures, and software development fundamentals.

Data Processing Libraries

• Exposure to libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and Polars is desirable.

Databases. Hands-on experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including:

• PostgreSQL
• SQL Server
• Redis
• MongoDB
• Elasticsearch

Messaging & Event-Driven Systems

• Experience working with message queues or streaming platforms such as Kafka.

Cloud & Containers

• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.
• Familiarity with Docker is a plus.

DevOps & CI/CD

• Experience working with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines and modern software development practices.

Web Development

• Extensive experience building, maintaining, and supporting web applications and backend APIs.
