Position Summary

We're looking for an experienced and highly motivated Senior Fullstack Software Engineer to join our team and help shape the future of cloud communication services across Africa.

You will not just write code, you will own features from ideation to deployment, and architect scalable systems, and mentor fellow engineers. You will work across the entire stack, from crafting responsive Next.js/React frontends to designing high-throughput Node.js/TypeScript microservices, and deploying them on AWS EKS with DevOps practices.

If you thrive in ambiguity, love solving complex problems, and want to build infrastructure that powers enterprise and startup communication across an entire continent, we'd like to meet you!

Culture, Career Growth and Development

At Beem, our most valuable resource is our people. We're serious about our work, but embrace fun and flexibility to get the job done. We believe that employee satisfaction starts with creating a supportive and inclusive environment where employees feel welcome no matter their personal or professional backgrounds. Through regular feedback on your performance and monthly reviews, you get an opportunity to discuss your challenges, aspirations, career goals and continuously keep growing in a fast-paced organization thus building a rewarding long-term career with Beem

WHAT YOU WILL DO ON A DAILY BASIS

This is what your day-to-day will actually look like as a Senior Fullstack Engineer at Beem:

  • Lead technical discovery & architecture: Partner with Product Managers to translate complex business requirements into scalable, event-driven microservices. Define service boundaries, data models, and API contracts before writing production code. Draft technical documentations.

  • Build across the full stack: Develop robust backend services using Node.js and TypeScript, and build intuitive, performant user interfaces using React and Next.js (SSR, SSG, ISR, App Router). Own features end-to-end.

  • Own the deployment pipeline: Deploy services to Amazon EKS, manage infrastructure-as-code, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Bitbucket Pipelines, and ArgoCD (GitOps). Ensure zero-downtime rollouts and quick rollbacks.

  • Drive quality at every layer: Write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests using Playwright, Jest, Mocha, Vitest, or Cypress. Ensure our APIs and UI work flawlessly across diverse African network conditions.

  • Master the data layer: Write complex SQL queries, optimize stored procedures, design efficient schemas, and tune database performance for high-throughput production environments across PostgreSQL, MySQL, and NoSQL databases like MongoDB.

  •  Collaborate with telcos & vendors: Interface directly with mobile operators across Africa to troubleshoot integrations, optimize SMS/USSD delivery, and ensure high availability.

  • Mentor & level up the team: Review pull requests, pair programs with junior engineers, and promote best practices around code quality, type safety, security, and performance.

  • Document & share knowledge: Write clear technical documentation, API specs, and runbooks so that the entire team benefits from your expertise.

  •  Participate in on-call rotation: Help ensure 99.9% uptime for our enterprise customers by responding to production incidents and driving root-cause analysis.
