Hours: 1:30pm – 11:30pm
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Overtime: Available
Working Environment: Workshop-based
The Opportunity
Due to recent expansion and the award of new contracts, our client is looking to recruit an experienced Night Shift Vehicle Technician to join their workshop team in Eastbourne.
Our client is an established commercial vehicle servicing, maintenance and repair business, working across a range of commercial vehicles as well as cars and light vehicles.
This is predominantly a diesel commercial vehicle role, with approximately 95% of the workshop’s work involving diesel vehicles up to 44 tonnes. The remaining workload includes a mixture of petrol, hybrid and fully electric vehicles.
As electric and hybrid vehicles increasingly enter the workshop, our client would ideally like someone who also holds an IMI Level 3 EV qualification, alongside strong conventional vehicle maintenance and repair experience.
The Role
Working from our client’s workshop, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, diagnosing and repairing vehicles to a high standard.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Servicing, maintenance and repair of commercial vehicles up to 44 tonnes including buses and coaches.
- Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults
- Carrying out repairs efficiently and to the required standard
- Working predominantly on diesel vehicles
- Working on petrol, hybrid and electric vehicles when required
- Using diagnostic equipment to identify and resolve faults
- Completing workshop documentation accurately
- Ensuring vehicles are maintained safely and professionally
Requirements
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Strong hands-on experience as a Vehicle Technician
- Experience working on commercial vehicles, particularly vehicles up to 44 tonnes including buses and coaches.
- Strong diesel servicing, maintenance, repair and diagnostic experience
- A recognised automotive qualification
- Ideally an IMI Level 3 EV qualification
- The ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical faults
- Experience working independently within a busy workshop environment
- A professional approach to vehicle safety and quality of work
While EV capability is desirable, it is important to understand that this is not a predominantly EV role. Approximately 95% of the work is currently on diesel vehicles, so strong conventional commercial vehicle experience is essential.
Benefits
£48,000+ basic salary, depending on experience, with overtime also available.
The position offers an opportunity to join an established business during a period of growth, with new contracts creating additional demand within the workshop.
