Practice Setting:
- Urgent Care Clinic
- Providers will travel between Brentwood, Mt Lebanon, and Pleasant Hills sites
- Must be comfortable and willing to:
- See patients of all ages
- Perform orthopedic procedures including splinting and wound care
- Work independently with no supervision
- See patients of all ages
- Responsibilities include suturing, wound care, I&Ds, splinting, x-rays, EKGs, drawing blood/IVs, etc.
- Patient visits include cold/flu symptoms, rashes, abrasions, lacerations, sprains, minor burns, splinting, etc.
- High acuity patients are referred to the local ER
- Sites are staffed with 1-3 providers per day
- If Physician is not on-site, they will be remotely available for escalation
Schedule:
- Monday-Sunday, 8:00a-8:00p
- Average 3-4 patients per hour
- Full-time coverage
- Average 20 shifts per month
Patient Population: All ages
EMR: EPIC
Credentialing: 90 days
Requirements:
- Active Pennsylvania licensure
- Board certification
- AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
- Minimum 2-years Urgent Care or 1-year Emergency Medicine experience or equivalent
Job Responsibilities (Generalized):
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests
- Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
- Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices.
- Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
- Document patient care accurately and thoroughly
Skills:
- Strong clinical knowledge and assessment skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients
- Proficiency in performing physical examinations and procedures relevant to their specialty
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to diagnose and manage complex medical conditions
- Time management skills to efficiently manage a patient workload
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a healthcare team
Requirements
Education:
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty (e.g., family practice, adult-gerontology, pediatrics)
- Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accredited program
Licenses & Certifications:
- Active and unencumbered advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license in Pennsylvania
- National certification as an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP])
- Active and unencumbered physician assistant (PA) license in Pennsylvania
- National certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
Experience:
- While specific requirements may vary, most locum APP positions prefer candidates with at least one year of experience in a clinical setting relevant to their specialty
