Job Title: Community Excellence Director (LALD) | Assisted Living & Memory Care

Company: Sunflower Communities

Location: West Metro, Minnesota

Compensation: $120,000 - $150,000 annually

Schedule: Full-Time | Monday through Friday + Leadership On-Call and Weekend Responsibilities

If you are a Licensed Assisted Living Director who wants more than simply maintaining operations, this may be the opportunity you've been waiting for.

Sunflower Communities is seeking an experienced and passionate leader to oversee a beautiful 55-bed senior living community, consisting of both Assisted Living and Memory Care residents. This is a highly visible leadership role where you will have the autonomy, support, and resources to make meaningful decisions that directly impact residents, families, and team members every day.

We are looking for someone who enjoys being present, building culture, mentoring staff, supporting families during important life transitions, and creating an environment where residents genuinely feel at home. This is not a role for someone who wants to sit behind a desk. We are searching for a leader who thrives in the community, knows residents by name, supports employees face-to-face, and takes pride in creating an exceptional experience for everyone who walks through the door.

At Sunflower Communities, you will have the opportunity to lead a team that believes senior living should be personal, compassionate, and relationship-driven. Every decision matters because every resident matters.

Why Leaders Choose Sunflower Communities

  • $120,000 - $150,000 annual compensation package.
  • Opportunity to lead an established 55-bed Assisted Living and Memory Care community.
  • Join a growing, family-owned organization where leadership is visible, accessible, and supportive.
  • Make a direct impact on resident satisfaction, employee engagement, occupancy growth, and operational excellence.
  • Be empowered to make decisions without layers of corporate bureaucracy.
  • Work alongside owners and senior leadership who value ideas, innovation, and hands-on leadership.
  • Build meaningful relationships with residents, families, and team members while creating a culture people want to be part of.
  • Lead a community where quality care and exceptional customer service remain the top priorities.

What You'll Be Responsible For

Lead Community Operations

  • Provide overall leadership and oversight for daily operations across Assisted Living and Memory Care services.
  • Ensure residents receive exceptional care while maintaining a warm, welcoming, and resident-centered environment.
  • Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities for continued improvement.

Build and Develop High-Performing Teams

  • Recruit, onboard, mentor, and develop team members across departments.
  • Create a positive culture focused on accountability, teamwork, compassion, and resident satisfaction.
  • Ensure new employees feel welcomed, supported, and equipped for long-term success.

Drive Occupancy and Resident Satisfaction

  • Serve as a trusted resource for prospective residents and families.
  • Conduct tours and build meaningful relationships throughout the decision-making process.
  • Oversee move-ins and transitions to ensure an exceptional experience from day one.
  • Partner with referral sources and community stakeholders to support occupancy goals.

Maintain Compliance and Operational Excellence

  • Ensure compliance with all Minnesota Assisted Living regulations and licensing requirements.
  • Oversee survey readiness and maintain a constant state of preparedness.
  • Assist with operational reporting, including 6790s and related documentation.
  • Monitor policies, procedures, and quality initiatives to ensure regulatory excellence.

Support Residents and Families

  • Build trusted relationships with residents and their loved ones.
  • Address concerns proactively and professionally.
  • Create an environment where residents feel valued, respected, and genuinely cared for.

Qualifications

  • Current Minnesota Licensed Assisted Living Director (LALD) license required.
  • Previous leadership experience within Assisted Living, Memory Care, Long-Term Care, or senior housing operations.
  • Strong understanding of Minnesota assisted living regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated success leading teams, developing culture, and improving operational performance.
  • Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and computer skills.
  • Ability to balance compassion, accountability, and operational excellence.

The Difference at Sunflower Communities

Many senior living organizations talk about culture. At Sunflower Communities, culture starts with leadership. We are a family-owned company that believes residents deserve exceptional care, employees deserve exceptional support, and leaders deserve the opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

We're not looking for someone to simply maintain a building. We're looking for a leader who wants to influence lives, strengthen teams, create memorable resident experiences, and help shape the future of a growing organization.

If you're ready to lead a community where your presence matters, your decisions make a difference, and your leadership is valued, we'd love to hear from you.
