About the Opportunity

Personal Connect is recruiting a Firmware Engineer (ASIC / Embedded Linux) on behalf of an innovative technology company operating at the intersection of high-performance computing, energy management, and ASIC infrastructure.

The company develops advanced software and firmware solutions for large-scale computing infrastructure. Its technology combines software-based monitoring and automated operations with low-level firmware responsible for ASIC chip management, performance optimization, frequency and voltage control, and thermal management.

This is a highly technical role focused on building and optimizing the low-level software that powers high-performance ASIC hardware.

The successful candidate will take ownership of the complete firmware lifecycle, including driver development, hardware bring-up, firmware builds and releases, performance tuning, system services, and hardware adaptation within embedded Linux environments.

The position is remote-friendly, with a preference for candidates based in Shenzhen who can occasionally support on-site hardware debugging and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Embedded Linux Firmware Development: Develop and maintain drivers and system services for power management, thermal control, fan control, hardware monitoring, and watchdog functionality.
  
• Firmware Lifecycle Management: Manage firmware builds, testing, packaging, deployment, formal releases, rollback mechanisms, and remote upgrade capabilities.
  
• Hardware Bring-Up & Adaptation: Adapt firmware for new SoCs, hashing boards, and ASIC chips, including hardware bring-up, validation, troubleshooting, and debugging.
  
• ASIC Performance Optimization: Optimize chip performance through frequency and voltage scaling and develop or improve automated tuning algorithms.
  
• System Integration: Develop and maintain interfaces between firmware, hardware, management systems, and remote monitoring platforms.
  
• Reverse Engineering: Where required, analyze third-party firmware and communication protocols to support compatibility, interoperability, and feature development.

主要职责

• 嵌入式 Linux 固件开发： 开发并维护电源管理、温度控制、风扇控制、硬件监控及看门狗（Watchdog）等相关驱动和系统服务。
  
• 固件生命周期管理： 负责固件构建、测试、打包、部署、正式发布、回滚机制及远程升级能力。
  
• 硬件 Bring-Up 与适配： 针对新的 SoC、算力板及 ASIC 芯片进行固件适配，负责硬件 Bring-Up、验证、故障排查及调试。
  
• ASIC 性能优化： 通过频率、电压调节等方式优化芯片性能，并开发或改进 ASIC 自动调优（Auto-Tuning）算法。
  
• 系统集成： 开发并维护固件、硬件、管理系统以及远程监控平台之间的接口。
  
• 逆向工程： 根据项目需要，对第三方固件及通信协议进行分析和逆向研究，以支持兼容性、互操作性及功能开发。
  

Requirements

Requirements

Candidates should have:

• 5+ years of relevant experience in embedded systems, firmware engineering, or low-level systems development.
  
• Strong knowledge of hardware communication protocols, including SPI, I2C, and UART.
  
• Experience with cross-compilation, firmware packaging, deployment, testing, rollback protection, and CI pipelines.
  
• Knowledge of TCP/HTTP networking and the ability to independently develop API services.
  
• Proven experience developing or maintaining custom firmware based on OpenWrt and/or Buildroot.
  
• Strong understanding of embedded Linux environments and hardware/software interaction.
  
• Hands-on experience with ASIC performance optimization, including frequency and voltage scaling.
  
• Experience designing, implementing, or optimizing automatic tuning algorithms for ASIC chips.
  
• Strong debugging and problem-solving capabilities across both firmware and hardware environments.
  

Preferred Qualifications

The following experience will be considered a strong advantage:

• Proficiency in modern systems programming languages such as Rust or Zig.
  
• Experience with firmware reverse-engineering tools such as Ghidra, IDA, Binary Ninja, or binwalk.
  
• Hands-on experience with ARM SoCs such as Xilinx Zynq, TI AM335x, or Amlogic.
  
• Experience with Petalinux, OpenWrt, Yocto, or other BSP and firmware build systems.
  
• Experience with ASIC-based high-performance computing infrastructure.
  
• Experience troubleshooting and optimizing firmware in large-scale or distributed hardware environments.
