Job Overview
Design Hire is seeking a Director of Construction and Infrastructure to lead critical infrastructure operations, maintenance strategies, and facility performance for a leading organization in the data center industry. This leadership role will oversee essential electrical and mechanical systems, drive preventive maintenance initiatives, and manage budgets to ensure reliable, efficient, and cost-effective operations. The ideal candidate brings extensive data center infrastructure experience, strong technical leadership, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the performance, reliability, and lifecycle management of critical facility equipment, including HVAC, cooling, and other mechanical systems supporting data center operations.
  
• Coordinate preventive maintenance programs, equipment inspections, troubleshooting, and corrective repairs to minimize downtime and maintain operational continuity.
  
• Collaborate with electrical, facilities, and operations teams to monitor infrastructure performance, address system deficiencies, and support integrated facility operations.
  
• Manage maintenance budgets, evaluate service contracts, monitor expenditures, and identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency without compromising system reliability.
  
• Review building system alarms, operational data, and maintenance records to identify recurring issues, recommend improvements, and support compliance with applicable safety standards and facility requirements.
  

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience supporting data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure systems.
  
• Strong technical understanding of critical facility environments and the operational requirements of mission-critical infrastructure.
  
• Experience with HVAC equipment, cooling systems, and mechanical plant operations in large-scale facilities.
  
• Familiarity with electrical infrastructure, including UPS and power distribution systems, generators, and transformers.
  
• Working knowledge of fire protection systems, fire alarms, and building management systems (BMS).
  
• Experience developing maintenance plans, coordinating contractors, and managing equipment service schedules.
  
• Demonstrated ability to manage maintenance budgets, control costs, and evaluate operational performance.
  
• Formal training or certification in electrical systems is preferred; strong troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills are essential.
