SALES ASSOCIATE

Key Responsibilities

i. Customer Service

• Welcome customers warmly, professionally and attend to customers promptly, particularly

during busy periods.

• Assist parents and caregivers in selecting appropriate products for their children.
• Provide accurate information about product sizes, materials, features, prices and

availability.

• Assist customers with selecting children’s clothing and footwear.
• Handle routine customer questions and complaints professionally.

ii. Sales & Business Development

The Sales Associate is responsible for actively contributing to store sales targets.

Responsibilities include:

• Achieve individual and team sales targets.
• Understand daily, weekly and monthly sales targets.
• Actively approach customers rather than waiting passively for them.
• Identify customer needs and recommend suitable products.
• Upsell and cross-sell where appropriate.

iii. Merchandise Display & Replenishment

• Maintain attractive and organized product displays.
• Ensure products are correctly arranged according to store merchandising guidelines.
• Replenish merchandise from the stockroom when shelves or displays become depleted.

iv. Stock Management

Responsibilities include:

• Handle merchandise carefully and ensure products remain in their designated locations.
• Support receiving and stock replenishment activities when assigned.
• Report damaged or missing products and suspected stock discrepancies immediately.
• Participate in stock counts and cycle counts.
• Report suspected theft or fraudulent activity to the Store Supervisor.

v. POS & Cash Handling

Where the Sales Associate is assigned POS/cashier responsibilities:

• Process customer transactions accurately.
• Scan or enter products correctly.
• Ensure the correct price is charged and issue receipts for all transactions.
• Follow company procedures for returns, exchanges, cash handling and reconciliation.

vi. Store Cleanliness & Safety

• Keep assigned areas clean and organized and ensure walkways remain clear.
• Remove empty boxes, packaging and unnecessary materials.
• Report hazards immediately and follow fire, emergency and occupational safety

procedures.

• Handle products and store equipment safely and ensure children’s areas and displays

remain safe.

vii. Teamwork

• Work cooperatively with other Sales Associates and support colleagues during busy

periods.

• Assist with opening and closing procedures, participate in team briefings and share product

knowledge.

• Support new employees during onboarding.
• Treat supervisors and colleagues with professionalism and respect.
• Maintain a positive and professional work environment.

Qualifications

Minimum

• Certificate, Diploma or equivalent qualification in Sales, Marketing, Business

Administration, Retail Management or a related field.

• One to three years of retail or customer service experience is preferred
• Experience using a POS system is an advantage.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Basic numerical and cash-handling skills.
