About the Role

We are looking for experienced Senior Java Software Engineers to join complex, large-scale software projects involving high-availability transactional systems, financial applications, account management platforms and enterprise solutions.

You will work within experienced engineering teams, designing and developing robust backend services and distributed applications using modern Java technologies, APIs, messaging systems and relational databases.

The role offers exposure to systems where scalability, reliability, performance and clean software architecture are essential, while the engineering environment is increasingly adopting AI-assisted development and agentic coding tools across the software development lifecycle.

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop and maintain enterprise-grade applications using Java

• Build scalable backend services and RESTful APIs

• Work with distributed, high-availability and transactional systems

• Design and integrate solutions using relational databases such as Oracle, MySQL or MS SQL Server

• Develop event-driven integrations using messaging technologies such as Kafka and AMQP

• Write clean, maintainable and well-tested code

• Participate in technical design, architecture discussions and code reviews

• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and contribute to performance and reliability improvements

• Collaborate with software engineers, architects, QA and other technical stakeholders

• Use modern development practices and tools throughout the SDLC

• Contribute to the adoption of AI-assisted engineering workflows, while maintaining appropriate code quality, security and human review standards

What We’re Looking For

• Strong professional experience in Java software development

• Very good knowledge of Java

• Hands-on experience with at least three of the following:

  • Spring

  • Spring Boot

  • JEE / Jakarta EE

  • JAX-RS

  • JPA

  • JDBC

• Experience with at least one automated testing framework

• Good understanding of distributed systems

• Good understanding of the HTTP protocol

• Experience designing and implementing solutions using relational databases such as Oracle, MySQL or MS SQL Server

• Experience with message brokers and messaging technologies such as Kafka or AMQP

• Strong understanding of RESTful API design principles

• Experience with Git and modern version-control practices

• Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills

• Ability to work effectively within collaborative engineering teams

Nice to Have

• Understanding of system resiliency and cloud-native architecture

• Knowledge of reactive programming

• Experience with Docker

• Familiarity with Kubernetes

• Experience with the ELK Stack

• Experience with Java build tools such as Gradle

• Hands-on experience with AI / agentic coding tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot Agent Mode or Cursor

• Experience using AI-assisted development for code generation, refactoring, test creation and code review

• Ability to write clear specifications and prompts for AI coding agents and critically review AI-generated code for correctness, security and performance

• Familiarity with incorporating AI-assisted workflows into CI/CD, pull-request reviews and technical documentation
